World News@lemmy.world•Plug-in hybrids use three times more fuel than manufacturers claim, analysis findsEnglish
31·2 months agoI’m not sure about how ALL plug-in hybrids work, but I know that most models a single, electric, power train. The gas aspect is a generator that can power the electric motor and offload it’s excess power into the battery. That way when the generator is needed it can almost always be at it’s optimal power setting.

Technology@lemmy.world•Epstein Files: X Users Are Asking Grok to 'Unblur' Photos of ChildrenEnglish
16·2 months agoA swirl is a distortion that is non-destructive. Am anonymity blur averages out pixels over a wide area in a repetitive manner, which destroys information. Would it be possible to reverse? Maybe a little bit. Maybe one pixel out of every %, but there wouldn’t be any way to prove the accuracy of that pixel and there would be massive gaps in information.

Games@sh.itjust.works•US government uses Halo images in a call to 'destroy' immigration, Microsoft declines to commentEnglish
0·6 months agoThe United Earth Government was an authoritarian, inclusive, and militaristic government. They acted as a mercantile empire with their colonies. Still, as authoritarian as the UEG is, as shady as it’s intelligence agency (ONI) is, what the Republicans have turned into is far worse.
The UEG would not encourage killing migrants and refugees. The Republicans are.
Where Republicans seek to institute a form of ethnostate theocracy, the UEG has freedom of religion and couldn’t care less about the color of your skin or which region you come from.

Time to switch to Qobuz then. Goodbye Spotify.
