Nobody asked, but the first movie came out in 2001, which was 25 years ago. The time between Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace was 16 years. Indiana Jones 4 was 19 years after The Last Crusade. Gladiator II was 24 years after Gladiator, and people were asking why bother after such a long time. “Oh, but the most recent one came out way later than 2001!” Yep. 2011. 15 years ago. It’s older than Gangnam Style.

I’m not that interested in this new Potter show, but let’s not pretend that the movies just came out a couple years ago. Time is just speeding by. You didn’t have back pain when you first saw quidditch on the big screen, but you do now.

We got beloved octogenarians, now a hated octogenarian and child rapist; almost there. I’d love to open that particular bottle of bourbon in 2026.

This is what I don’t understand about anybody who disagrees with you. What is the point of the entire concept of society, of civilization, of government, of organizing people into any sort of group if not to raise the basic quality of living? If you don’t believe in the concept of a society, then fuck off and stop influencing and benefitting from the very thing that you’re trying to dismantle.

Furthermore, not only is it the moral and ethical thing to do to take care of all of us, but it’s an investment that pays dividends because healthy and safe people become productive people who will in turn raise a generation of productive people and so on and so forth. So even if you’re a ghoul who lacks empathy and only looks at the bottom line, it still just makes sense to feed and educate and clothe and house the people. And even if you’re able to easily provide those basics for yourself and your family, that just means more expendable income to juice the economy when you buy the goods and services that you want instead of just spending it on needs.

“Oh no, but then we’d get a ton of immigrants!” Okay? And what, we get a population boom of productive people just in time for boomers to retire and die? And that’s supposed to be bad? Kinda seems like an ideal solution.

The only explanation that I can find is that these people are either too dumb to think that far ahead or they’re too cruel to want to end suffering for anybody that isn’t them. In both cases, I don’t know what the solution is, but they’re so plentiful that it’s hard to imagine a Star Trek utopian society ever coming to fruition. It’s hard to have hope for the future with so many bastards insisting that humanity has already peaked and we need to regress to improve.

Rs are incredibly unpopular right now, which is why an R+30 district might flip blue, like I said. Why are you anticipating a red wave? I think it’s unlikely to get a Fetterman-proof majority in the Senate, but the House is almost certainly flipping blue. Local races are also likely flipping blue. It’s important to temper expectations, but I don’t understand your position or even the point of stating it.

I was hoping somebody other than me would remember that!

He’s so far right that he’s popping out on the left like in Kid Icarus. Did you hear about those $5k socialism checks? EVs are getting adopted en masse. Now reducing beef in diets? What’s next, common sense gun control? Fully legalized cannabis? Trust busting?

There are comparably priced EVs. Don’t just look at the high end stuff. I got a used '22 Bolt EUV for $19k and sold my '16 RAV4 for $14k, so net $5k cost. Fueling at home costs about 20% what fueling at the pump cost me, plus I no longer need to leave early or go out of my way to get to a place to fuel. And unless you are doing a ton of driving every day as like an Uber driver or something, you really don’t need more than 350km range.

My commute for work is about 90 miles (145ish km) round trip. I charge up to 75% overnight (limited for longevity), drive to work, work 12 hours, drive home, and plug it in and it still has like 33% battery, and its range when new was advertised as 250 miles (400km). I’m sure it’s degraded some since new, but even if it’s down to like 225 miles (360km), it’s plenty.

Somebody else also pointed out maintenance costs. No maintenance except for tires, wipers, bulbs, and brakes, but also the brakes need way less servicing because they’re used less since you’re mostly using regen braking. This was a big factor for me because my commute has me drive up a mountain and back down each way, so controlling my speed required either extra wear on my brakes or engine braking. Now I just get some change back from the extra energy cost of going uphill lol. Just last week, I took my car in to get serviced, and all it routinely needs is tires rotated and balanced. The guy at the desk was new and he didn’t know how to charge for it since they pretty much only do it for people who bought tires through them and they offer free rotations and balances for the life of the tires, so he just said eh fuck it, you’re good man, it’s not worth the $20 or whatever for me to figure this out right now. So my 6 month service was FREE.

It’s also worth pointing out that you’re expecting an EV to pay itself off due to lower fuel cost, but you’re not expecting that from a gas car. You can realistically find a new EV for under $30k, and a new Corolla or Civic is like $25k. Assuming you drive somewhere around the average amount (12k miles/19km per year), then you’re likely to actually spend closer to $60k on the Corolla or Civic and $45k on the budget EV.

So you save $15k over ten years of owning the car, assuming you can charge at home and you were already looking at getting a new car and were comparing which one you definitely needed to buy today. For me, it was also a question of convenience. With 12 hour shifts and an hour commute on each side, I really didn’t like having to plan leaving 10 minutes early and remembering to alter my route to stop just for gas.

If it makes sense for your lifestyle, go for it. If you can’t charge at home or your current car runs fine, no big deal. EVs are getting better with every iteration, so you’ll probably get one eventually. The only real urgency right now is that gas prices are currently way higher than they usually have been, and right now people aren’t fully aware that 5 year old used EVs are not garbage in the same way that 5 year old used smartphones are, so you can get a pretty good deal until everybody wises up on that. And with gas prices up, more people are doing that research.

I recognize the possibility of a tin foil hat, but bear with me: what if they don’t want to talk about those 1000 more pressing issues? What if this is just an interesting enough distraction to get to the weekend and then they count on people being busy and then kinda just forgetting shit by Monday? Every question about this is taking the place of what might otherwise be a question about the trump epstein files. Or Iran. Or Chinese dominance. Or the collapsing economy. Or people getting sick. Or thing after thing after thing. There are zero wins, but we can’t help but talk about the FBI being open to hiring horse fuckers or whatever because that’s the hot new story.

Then you pay it, fuckface. Subsidize all gas from your personal billions, you corrupt, greedy, narcissistic, pedophile. That’s all you’d have to do to get approval ratings above 40% again, but you won’t, because your greed outweighs your pride. You actively hurt people because your wrath outweighs your sloth. Don’t think for a second that we haven’t noticed your gluttony, your lust, and your envy. There has never been a greater candidate for the antichrist. I hope there is a hell just for this rotten pile of hate to burn in torment there for eternity. The world truly would have been a better place if Donald John Trump had never been born. The damage is done, so there’s no point in advocating for violence against him now, but it’s notable because there are so few people in history that that can be said about. Humans in totality are worse off for the birth and life lead by a select few real monsters. He is one of them.

I wish fear and sorrow and anguish upon him for every breath he takes so that he may feel some fraction of the pain he has inflicted upon everybody who was forced to share the planet with him. Not for vengeance, but for some semblance of justice that I don’t believe he will ever face. God have as much mercy on his soul as he has had for anybody other than himself.

If you ask “where did you read that?” the response will probably be that they were talking about it on fox news or OAN. Or maybe Twitter propagandists.
