That’s a good tip, it’s a good idea to subscribe to a Lemmy instance that participates in Fediseer (IMO). It helps to keep spammy instances off your own instance hence lower spam posts overall.
A lot of spammers tend to spin up their own Lemmy instances just to spam the rest of the Fediverse, or they’ll create a ton of new accounts on an instance with lax admin/moderation to use for spam later.
You don’t even need to browse the Fediseer website directly, pretty much all Lemmy instances participating in Fediseer will have the “Guarantor” and “Endorsements” links in the sidebar of their homepage.
Later on when you successfully sign up on a different Lemmy instance just go into your new user’s profile settings again (exactly how you just did for https://lemm.ee/settings but it’ll be [YOUR-NEW-LEMMY-INSTANCE]/settings, in there under “Import/Export Settings” look for the Import section and there you can import the file you just exported.
PS - For a quick overview of Lemmy instances you can check out https://lemmyverse.net/?order=active&open=true and/or https://join-lemmy.org/instances
A few times a year, probably around 5-6 I’d guess. Some months I end up going to more than one and other months it’s quiet.
Almost always buy merch… I have a lot of t-shirts haha.
I really hate the idea of people not liking something and it being scrubbed from the internet.
It’s not, the devs themselves took it off Steam (and honestly I would have thought Valve might have removed it eventually). But it’s not like the devs disappeared from the internet, searching around I saw they still sell the game on at least one game platform outside of Steam. And those same devs could choose to sell it directly themselves if they wanted, to say they’ve been scrubbed from the internet is a bit of a stretch.
I’ve definitely re-watched old Adult Swim stuff. Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Sealab 2021 in particular. (I need to include Harvey Birdman Attorney At Law in that mix)
I’m kind of in the same boat, thought I’d be programming but figured out early on that sitting at a desk coding for 8+ hours a day just wasn’t my thing. Turns out I’m happier doing all the other IT grunt work e.g. setting up servers, backups, dealing with the network/wireless/firewalls, even provisioning and supporting user desktops gets interesting.
Twitter/X was easy for me, as soon as Musk touched it I closed that account. Wasn’t too active on there anyway.
Still on Instagram but planning to close that soon. Facebook is a bit trickier with all the older friends/family on there that probably won’t move elsewhere. Then again most of the friends/family I see regularly already stopped posting/commenting on Facebook so there’s a lot of dead accounts on there.
Left Reddit during the API exodus.

MISUNDERSTOOD INSTRUCTIONS, CAN’T BREATH.
Would notice immediately when I go to work, too much of a strange coincidence for most of my office to be missing.
Plus I guess you’re saying they still exist? So it would be sort of like being in an office full of ghosts still going about their day, I’d keep seeing invisible people answering calls, printing stuff to the printer, etc.
PS - This is all assuming I make it to work, just walking to work in the morning would be a disaster if I keep bumping directly into invisible people in my building, out on the sidewalk, etc… so most likely would notice something is wrong long before I make it into work. And all the self driving cars, LOL.
Never did that on purpose.
In fact it wouldn’t even had occurred to me to try to do that speaking spanish - The school district I went to growing up is about 60% hispanic so most of the teachers knew at least some spanish.
I just tip the amount I would have tipped if it was something paid. In practice that only happens to me in bars if the bartender gives me a drink on the house and I’ll always tip in those situations. Always tip your bartender :)
Years back when I checked it out it was full of people into conspiracy theories and general bigotry. Interestingly they weren’t specifically right-wing at the time and in fact when the site was originally started it was named something like antiextremes as a reference to not wanting to be left or right leaning.
But you know, over time it just kind of filled up with the types of people that typically got banned on mainstream sites like Reddit. You’ll get an idea of how people in general are there by reading through the posts and comments there.
