24·25 days agoBut you see my friend - most these stupid communities don’t let you just post random URLs. If people don’t understand what they are seeing they accuse you if being a bot. Article is fine IMO, phoronix I thought exclusively cover Linux and shit

I don’t think its gonna come down to Africa , more likely they will make some deal with Iran and get a passage, but… You never know. And we would have to concede… Something… And Israel won’t let us…

5·30 days agoTrans issues are cheap that’s why both corporate dems and GOP like to center on them .
Most people want to solve real issues - healthcare, social net, housing costs etc all of those require touching oligarchs and ofc dangerous
they just blew up that saudi pipeline. cant transit anything like that
I feel like you’re missing the point entirely.
Bab-el-Mandeb is the southern gate of the Red Sea. Suez is the northern gate. You don’t need to own both doors to trap someone in the hallway - you just need to lock one. If the Houthis can effectively close Bab-el-Mandeb, they control whether ships can transit the Red Sea at all, which means they control the Suez route’s viability by default. That’s called chokepoint leverage, not “complete control of the whole Red Sea.”
Nobody said they planted a flag in Suez. They don’t have to. Egypt can own the canal all day - if the southern exit is a shooting gallery, the canal is a dead end.
So yes: technically you’re correct. Strategically, you’re arguing a distinction without a difference.
This just unfolded late last week. Whatvdo you mean they didn’t achieve it? It happened thursday. They are now sitting on a 20 km wide corridor and can surely stop whomever they want. They have all the same drones as Iran.
There is no Info - that’s why im saying there seems to be. a media coverup.

‘A f***-up of epic proportions’: Blame game begins after Iran-backed Houthis’ lightning advance down Red Sea coast
US Navy Adm. Brad Cooper flew to the kingdom overnight Thursday as Yemen’s Riyadh-backed forces crumbled in the face of a lightning Houthi offensive
Houthis took critical chokepoint out of red sea that they couldn’t do for many years and now can effectively close it just like Iran closed other one- with very little effort needed. That effectively controls Suez passage

News@lemmy.world•Iran Damages US A-10, F-15s with Missile Attack on Air Base in Jordan
971·1 month agonot just multiple! allegedly - they say Iran destroyed 8 F-15 planes and 1 A-10 in a single strike on the ground.
And Houthis just did a literal blietzkrieg TODAY - and took several islands, huge territory and an important port - and no news outlets covering this.
This is complete failure of US intelligence and US navy, This is total failure of republican led military. how can you control the seas and let thta happen?
and guess what - red sea - closed. our fleet will have to sail back around Africa now - no I kid you not (or beg Houthis to let them pass - houthis might let em but damn this is bad)
