Surely, this can’t be a coincidence.

I still don’t understand why they designed the case like this, the charger should easily fit inside without this “hole”

Not that I complain, they give everyone a case with the console, which is awesome but I personally got a slightly bigger one with enough room to store the charger, wireless earbuds and a cloth for the screen.

Feel free to complain. I love my steam deck, but this case wasn’t free. We all paid for one, we just didn’t have the ability to opt out. And yeah, strange design for something they put so much effort into.

Well, we paid probably what the case costs for valve to make… so like 3$ maybe…? Id say that is pretty much “for free”

A likely reason is that not only will plug and brick sizes vary by region, but if storage was internal, people would just start throwing their shit inside and closing it.

This would scratch the screen to shit, if not outright break it. Additionally, people’s wires and cloths and earbuds could crush the analog sticks or other inputs. Which, analog sticks famously hate.

Shoving the charger in the little sack and having it protrude covered by elastic is an elegant and slim solution to all of this.

I don’t think you people understand how much of the human population are mouthbreathing morons. They treat their expensive stuff like shit and wonder why it’s broken after two months.

I’m not some case freak either, I use my SD with zero third party accessories and my phone is nude as well. It’s fine because I don’t treat my stuff like shit.

Yeah, the Stream Controller case has internal compartments for the accessories, and it does feel more contained.

My guess is this was an easier/cheaper case solution that also gave people easy external storage access—you don’t have to open the case to get the accessories. I think I prefer internal, so I’ll be getting a different case eventually, too.

I use a third party case with an internal compartment, and I think I prefer external. When I am out and about, not using my Deck, and want to pull out my charger to charge my phone or something, I have to pull out the Deck in order to get to that compartment. If the compartment were on the outside of the case, it would be simpler to get to.

With that said, I do not trust the elastic strap on the official case to keep things secure out there. So I keep using my third party case.

The North American charger should fit, no? I’m in Korea where we’ve got big honking plugs, and I could probably squeeze it in if I tried.

It “fits”, but the elastic is easy to snag/bump and the charger cord wants to jump out in all directions any chance it gets. It also then stops the case from resting flat when “rightside up” which isn’t great either.

    Handy storage spot :b

I hadn’t heard of Barkleys before, but it has been ages since I’ve had some nice mints so I am going to see if I can find some of those 😂

Also, seeing that tin made me miss the tangerine Altoids Sours.

The Ginger and Orange are my favorites. Given, I’ve only had two flavors, and the Cinnamon ones were good, too.

They only started appearing in Korea recently, so I bet they’re super popular somewhere else.

Ooh, yay!! I’m excited for you! I hope you love them! I’d be interested in hearing how they are and how they compare to your memory of the original Altoids kind, if you happen think of it once you’ve tried them.

Also, totally agreed about it being a cool project by that candy store! They’ve got lots of cool projects where they remake old candies. Sometimes they track down the old/original equipment and everything. It is super neat!!

Altoids have been around since, like, 1790. Barkleys have been around since 1996. This is the first I’ve heard of them, and that’s likely because Altoids as a brand is almost as ubiquitous as the brand Velcro.

I read that some folks find them to be much stronger, so I’ll have to look for some as well!

Altoids as a name have been around a long time, but they have been just candy ever since Mars bought them. They aren’t even made or marketed in the UK anymore.

        I miss altoids.

Yeah, they sadly are not curiously strong anymore. In fact not strong at all, more on the simply sweet peppermint now days.

Hit up pd.net. They have a version of them that’s pretty decent. He went through flavor tests with patrons and adjusted it based on their feedback.

Citrus as a flavor is sour with a bittersweet finish. Ginger has spice notes and a post nasal what that blends well with the bittersweet of the citrus. The sweet orange and spiced ginger flavor hints at Christmas flavors. Overall it’s a solid flavor combo that is most seen around winter holidays.

For a case that comes included with the system I can’t complain. I put a cloth under the deck and the US charger fits alright. I’ll maybe get a bigger case someday, but this one is prettu good for me not having to go get another one. The switch didn’t come with a case, so it wad just naked until I found a decent one.
