Schiff has been a powerful voice in the house, he’s been there long enough, he’s a tough as hell lawyer (and is hated because he has lead several impeachment proceedings with great success). He’s articulate and a powerful advocate.

I’ll be writing in Katie Porter in the general.

Not a fan of some of her policies, but at least she fought for people.

Pelosi’s nod — rarely given in a Democrat-on-Democrat race — wasn’t the only factor that propelled Schiff to the November election. But her support encouraged the majority of the state’s elected officials to back him and connected Schiff to her vast donor network.

One of the big reasons to get money out of politics, is it’s a lot like capitalism.

A big politician whose been in office for 50 years just keeps accumulating more and more donors. Like the wealthiest in capitalism keep accumulating more and more capital.

Then they can play matchmaker and back someone they like in a primary and candidates who voters identity with can’t compete because it’s a primary.

The established candidates pick people that agree with them, and since they’re in there 70s-90s, their views are often outdated.

The result is holding the party in the past, and makes it more expensive to get those votes. Which makes money more important, and just starts the cycle again.

I understand that Dems can’t get money out of the general, but the only reason we can’t get it out of primaries, is the people who decide like the money and lifestyle of our current system.

He was funded by right wing AIPAC.

Schiff has spent and benefitted from $44.8 million in ads, while Porter has $18.6 million in ad support.
