  • When it comes to Matrix, I have trouble making the parallel. Maybe because of the terminology?

It’s almost identical on Matrix, although many clients make it hard to distinguish things. For example, Fluffy Chat (and the “official” Element too, I think?) show both Servers AND their Rooms on your “all chats list”, making finding things confusing.

Check out Commet, it structures things exactly like Discord, so you’ll clearly see what’s a server, what’s a room on that server, etc.

  • It’s cool that it “supports threads”, but - as so many other clients - it forgets to actually expose threads! As in: once the initial comment starting a thread slides up in the chat, the only way to access the thread is to scroll all the way up there again.

Fake edit: OK, Commet shows all threads if you type “thread” in search. Still, having a button to do just that would be infinitely better.

Also: no support for polls? :(

  • I still cry myself to sleep after the premature death of Windows Mobile, so I use Launcher10, which brings the Tiles back to life.

I started experimenting with a super minimalist Folder Launcher, but it doesn’t seem ready for release yet, a couple of crucial (IMO) features (like default settings, bulk edits, proper apps list) are still missing.

There’s also Fossify Launcher Beta, which is an open source launcher. It’s fairly basic, but gets the job done. A super cool feature of the Fossify apps (since two releases ago) is the option to set your own fonts from a file, so I’m running their Calendar, Phone, Contacts, Calculator, etc., all with the Nothing Phone’s dot font.

  • I wouldn’t be surprised if this was an attempt at the “out-conspiracy the conspiracy theory” approach.

You know: when someone says “wow, you believe humans have landed on the Moon??”, you go “lol, you believe in the Moon???”

Here we have: “Epstein was found dead in his cell, he was probably murdered”, being “out-conspiracied” into “lol, no, he faked his death so he can play Fortnite, his account was active a couple of days ago”.

  • They are that arrogant to not think they don’t have to try to make anything believable, the fix is in for them and they don’t think they need us in the reality based community.

Then they wouldn’t try doing anything as convoluted as a faked suicide, they’d do what they did in 2008 - do a fake court case, drop all the most egregious part, give him a great lawyer, send him against shit-tier prosecutors, and sentence him to three years of house arrest to make all the bad things go away.

Someone renamed their account to this after the latest release of the files.

But, yeah, people will latch on to the stupidest stuff. Like, the dude ran an underground ring of paedophile brothels for decades generating kompromat for the top-of-the-top most important people on the planet, but it’s his Fortnite account that will unravel the whole thing… Come on, guys…

  • I agree that corporate capture of dems is real, but to paint the magats as being for the little guy is insane!

You have to take the timeline into consideration.

It was all written before Trump 2.0. At that time, and specifically regarding tech, Republicans had much more to offer the “little guy” than Democrats.

Was it completely accidental, just because Trump was throwing a hissy fit? Yes. Did it end as soon as the big tech people started throwing money and praise at him? Also yes. But both of those things happened after the tweets and the comments were posted.

Just read this. It’s a full analysis of not only the CEO’s comments, but also of what Proton does in general. They do not support Republicans.
