Credit card and Debit Card charge the merchant per transaction, so most places will have a minimum spend. but usually it is like $3 or something. Same with food bank donations, it has a low minimum because their transaction provider charges fees for handling the donations online
Marxist Leninist instance. Some users just appear to be paid chinese propagandists.

21·5 hours agoThat was the time it became apparent they weren’t in it as a niche privacy company, they just wanted to bandwagon to grow numbers.

0·1 day agoHa, anxiety/control issues maybe. My mom was like this when a Friend asked me to sleep over, and my mom would say no, its not enough notice. (We had nothing planned ever, that it would conflict with.)
That’s been my experience at Calgary hotels and trade shows…as well as interacting with people. One food court had Burger place, rib place, kabob place, some other meat place. My option was fries. The hotel option was fries except those were beef fat cooked.
If that doesn’t represent Calgary, then the business and hospitality industry has to step up, because hotels and business events are where outsiders meet your ciry
Exactly, they are just inciting future retaliation. Same as some sensible Israelis pointed out…all The atrocities commited against Palestinian created thale Hama’s attack, and the current genocide attemot isn’t quelling anything(unless they 100% complete their goal), it will lead to more radicals.

1·3 days agoIt can be set not to turn on the light. Had an incident on an HP workstation where it said camera was off but it was broadcasting. Had to do some command line low level stuff to set the state of it to actually off. LED came on and off when toggle for web calls, but turning the camera off wasn’t actually doing that.
Ill paint a picture:
Lots of cattle farming in Alberta too, so there isn’t a lot of new age thinkers there who care about factory farming pollution of water systems, and that all that farm land could feed more people, and the terrible conditions animals live in.
So when I’ve gone on work trips all the food places at hotels and events are all beef/rib products and fries. Finding a salad or some vegetarian protien is difficult.
I went on a two-three day work trip and lost 5lbs from lack of food choices.
Talking to them is like being in Hicksville, with lifted smokey diesel trucks, etc.

Linux@lemmy.ml•What's your favorite linux os you suggest to beginners who wish to learn linux?
5·4 days agoThis is how I roll (tumbleweed joke here) but the addition of NixOS on my wife’s computer because she needs it to be exactly how it was if the hardware changes. (She’s not good with tech and Windows was too frustrating for her, so it is Nix and Gnome DE)

Linux@lemmy.ml•Hibernation with encrypted root and swap using TPM and secure boot on Fedora 44
3·5 days agoDid you do this ?
Get the UUID of swap partion then add it to boot parameter(resume=UUID=xxxx)
System needs that in grub line so it knows where to put the hibernation stuff, and obviously swap has to be equal or larger than RAM amount.
Gaslighting women LOL. It is not gender biased–meaning trying tobsway women to be subservient and men dominant… Its irrelevant who set it up, that’s a fallicious arugment. But since you brought it up it does have basis on the hierarchy of human needs from psychology papers.
Categorization involves finding the limits that determine a category, you could probably break it into a 100 or more, but then you add complexity for no reason, these are distilled to the most base set.
If you don’t want to like it because of a pastor you can get a similar scooe with Ortan-Gilingham method since it was backed by science research not just anecdotes from those tested.
I disagree it all boils to acts of service. For example I score high on Physical touch, but it doesn’t require an act of service like a back massage, just lying next to my wife with our skin touching is enough to keep my tank full. She could be asleep so there is 0 act of service. It a basic human skin to skin thing like when they say babies (and chimp studies) should have skin to skin contact with mom.
But buy me a gift or do something for me has no tank filling properties. Its nice but, meh

I turn off all AI functions because they just get in my way and are frustrating when I’m working.
Occasionally I will use it to format or prep a document template.
AI has gotten better. I pasted in about 10 phrases I’d captured in a meeting for a project, and asked to to prep the document with sections etc.
I expected a generic template with some garbage.
It actually inferred a lot from the project notes and built a 5 page project scope, and included things such as testing parameters and thresholds for acceptance. Which were actually good criteria for the product. It also split it into sensible phases with close out criteria and triggers for next phase.
It suggested avenues of adjustment to make the product work along with back up ideas and the risk levelsof each.
Overall it nailed the product plan and phases and had really sensible suggestions, even with such limited input as a few rough notes.
It did better than most of my colleagues, and what I expected would be 2 days of my time researching and typing, was max 4 hours.
About 1/2 hour setup and generate, and the rest was me moving sentences around, or deleting stuff that might not be 100% relevant.
