I fully get where you’re coming from. I fully believe that you can’t vibe code correctly unless you already know how to code correctly. I’m against the shifting paradigm of “who cares what the code looks like aa long as it works properly and the LLM can read it quickly” bullshit that’s coming out of it. I want to read the code and understand it too. I want it to be object oriented and not just dumb ad hoc methods everywhere that’s 1,000 lines when it could’ve been 100 lines.
Now anecdotally, as someone who uses it for my main work and side project, I am still getting a lot of use out of it. I’m learning new things at a faster rate than I would have before. For my side project, I am trying to optimize gear sets for a game and there’s hundreds of millions of different configurations. The LLM I’m using knows about my code and the project and what I need and is able to suggest other algorithms, like I was able to learn about Dinkelbach’s algorithm. I have it write up design docs with formulas and pseudocode implementation and I review that and it takes my comments into account. I treat it like a junior developer and ask for questions to make sure I understand what it’s doing. I think a lot of people aren’t treating it like a junior developer or intern and that’s where problems come from.
Now, I wouldn’t be using it if it wasn’t free with my company, as this is more of “learning/research” for my job.
And for my job, we have semantic memory and a ton of MCP servers setup that guide it through the right code and can do internal documentation search so it’s way more powerful than just using base Claude Code or whatever. It has helped me stay more on track with my projects as an ADHD person (even though I’m medicated) by documenting what it does after it does it in a shared doc rather than me forgetting to do that because I run a command and log off for the day or something.
I do hate the water usage and energy usage though…

My car is 8 years old and paid off. I’m sorry we didn’t have many options 8 years ago and we didn’t know who he was. I’m glad I have an EV now because gas is crazy and my electricity is $0.13/kWh vs $5.50 for gas, even though I barely drive it since I live in a city now and take public transit, but my wife uses it to drive to work. I am not going to buy another tesla if we ever need another car.
But there’s no point in selling a car that we use at a loss right now. I don’t give him any money besides long distance trips with the superchargers, but every new EV uses the Tesla super chargers now.

I’m going to need a source on Apple selling your data. Just one source is fine. They do push themselves as security focused, and they are very overpriced for what you’re getting. But I haven’t seen any news or sources of them actually breaking any of their privacy promises. They did give anonymized audio data to a third party contractor to quality grade their “hey siri” detection but this is something the user has to opt into. They have a better track record than Google, and back in 2009 when I was getting into smart phones, those were the only two options.

Calling me offensive because I used “fuck”? It’s called poe’s law. Don’t assume people are mad just because of words. I was just trying to figure out what the heck you meant with AirPods. The always on is for the transparency mode. It’s all on device and not even sent to the phone. AirPods are t even that expensive and we use them for more than just a flight. We have jobs where we listen to music and work with our hands so we don’t get stuck in our cords.
But you’re the one being very extra and aggressive now, even going into name calling, which I never did. Take a step back. This is Lemmy, not Reddit or Xitter. Take a chill pill and engage in the conversation instead of spewing vitriol.
Also, why would I have the AR headset? There’s no use for it. You can’t even play games! 😂

How would a view like that work without a camera? It needs to see streets to display the map accurately since GOS could only be accurate within 5meters sometimes.

What the fuck do AirPods have to do with this? Any wireless earbuds are awesome. I can start playing a video on my phone, and it connects. I take a call on my laptop, and it jumps there immediately. I don’t have to fiddle with a cord that constantly gets tangled and then eventually just stops working because it’s been bent in the same spot for 2 years. I can connect my AirPods and my wife’s AirPods to my phone on a plane, and we watch a video together, and I didn’t have to remember to bring my headphone splitter. Wireless earbuds are not the same as a mass surveillance device.

I agree that people cannot vibe code well unless they are a developer. Knowing the difference between slop and using a tool to automate bulk writing code is crucial at the current state. And I don’t ever know if it’ll get better because you need to know why you want to build something someway.

A huge issue with this, besides being cruel, is that about 60-70% of the non-federal jail population are just awaiting trial and may actually be innocent. This gives cops more incentive to just arrest those that they don’t like if they can’t afford to post bail.
This needs to go to a higher court immediately. I just hope they do the right thing…
Or if you’re poly you can never stop looking a just enjoy dating and having fun.
I do not recommend poly for most people. It’s a lot of work, and it’s not for everyone.

I’m from Seattle so that’s not even a crazy cocktail cost. And I think you need a six figure income to survive in NYC.

I do not like NYC “dress code”. I went to a cocktail bar and they asked me to keep my jacket on because I had a t shirt. The cocktails were only $15-17. Not even fancy! Is my money worth less that I’m wearing jeans or a tshirt?
This is why I love Seattle. Everywhere allows tshirts and jeans no matter how fancy. I’m comfy and spending money.
I was too far into lemmy/scrolling, but not like any TikTok/facebook/etc. I think I just got dopamine burnout. One o got antidepressants, it was so much better for my mental health.
There’s a reason furry cons are known to have huge parties. Just a bunch of nerds that want to have some fun! Plus furries do have a good bit of money. Those suits ain’t cheap!

Apple has “GenMoji” and I find that a good use for it. It’s using emojis that they designed for the model, generating other emojis that you can only use on their devices (or sending an image). I use it to make new funny reaction emojis for me and my friends. I cannot use any art for other types of reactions the same way that emojis work (like reacting with an emoji for an image).

Kinda funny that we’re looking at this on lemmy, 90% of us are on our phones browsing while doing random things.
It looks cool, but smartphones, good or bad, fill the void of riding the bus, waiting 5 mins for your next meeting, waiting for your partner to get ready in “5 more minutes”. I’m ADHD and this helps me just unwind.
I know it’s not for everyone, but it’s silly that this is being pitched as revolutionary.

The Mississippi one is crazy. I voted in that ballot initiative when I lived there. It was for medical marijuana with very lax laws. But then the mayor of the richest county in the state took it to court. The ballot initiative even got the required votes in all the old districts too, planning for this, but the Supreme Court of MS is as dumb as a bag of rocks. Did the state repeal the voter ID law or the new flag that were both passed the same way? Hell no!
So glad I left that ass-backwards state.
Mummy Joe is a treasure and must be protected.

I’ve got voyager too! Also tagging them as anti trans with the trans baby blue color.
It’s so weird that Hawaii is listed here because they don’t observe DST and they probably won’t jump ahead an hour just to sync up times with us.
