Before you do that, let the people, orgs, and companies who insist on using those platforms know that they will no longer be able to reach you.
It’s not enough for users to abandon those sites, big players need to, too.

JuryNow doesn’t store any personal data or persistent user identifiers. The questions and votes are not linked to individuals in a way that would allow tracking behavior over time.
Great to hear!
There is a User Agreement, Liability, Disclaimer etc…
Are these currently in place? I don’t see links to them on the homepage, or during the sign-up screen.
I like the idea, but it needs a privacy policy. If someone answered 100 of those questions, the insight into their behaviour would be incredibly valuable to bad actors.
Guaranteeing anonymity would make this much better.
“Netflix members pay as much attention to midroll ads as they do to the shows and movies themselves,” Amy Reinhard, president of advertising at Netflix, said, according to the publication.
This is so hilarious when you think about it.
Are their movies and shows so bad that people are watching ads with as much attention?
Or do they mean “pay as much attention” by ignoring the content altogether as they only run Netflix as background noise while they do something else?
😂
Well, on the flip-side… people don’t like paying for other people’s destructive behaviours. So, we’re even! 😆
Well, shit. I didn’t think of the shareholders! /s 🤑
Benefits for literally everyone in every metric!
Public opinion: Not great, but improving
Fuck off! Are these people not living in the city, or are they just assholes who can’t imagine the possibility of changing their opinion on something they thought would be bad, but ended up being amazing?
I think the phrase “low-traffic” is problematic, because it sounds like “fewer people will visit my shop!”.
In reality, this type of infrastructure increases human traffic… real people doing real things in their community… by blocking off large vehicles.
Every community should want MORE of these neighbourhoods.
Is it easy to set up SSL on a PiHole? I wanted to get Adguard home setup (similar to Pihole) but the complexity of setting up secure connections and I’m like, “yeah, nobody in my family is going to be able to fix this if something happens when I’m not around”. 😂
I think the difference is some people need to vent once in a while, but other people make it their personality to simply always be angry at everything and everyone. Those people should always be avoided because they do drain your own energy and motivation in life.
For context, I have a single Synology NAS, so recovering and testing the entire backup set would not be practical in my case.
I have been able to test single files or entire folders and they work fine, but obviously I’d have no way of testing the entire backup set due to the above consideration. It is my understanding that the verify feature that Synology uses is to ensure that there’s no bit rot and that the file integrity is intact. My hope is that because of how many isolated backups I do keep, the chance of not being able to recover is slim to none.
How does one realistically test their backups, if they are doing the 3-2-1 backup plan?
I validate (or whatever the term used is) my backups, once a month, and trust that it means something 😰
Yes, Trump has said publicly several times that he would not have won if the elections weren’t rigged.
That said, he didn’t fabricate tens of millions of votes.
And there’s no chance of ever getting pre-Trump America back. You guys voted for this. Twice.
Actions have consequences, and you’re in the “found out” phase.
Longer range so it can get stuck further from home? 🤭😀👍
But, have you disabled any power saving features both from the manufacturer and the OS?
Yes, and all permissions have been granted. I think it’s just buggy as another person posted about similar issues.
I wonder if something like LineageOS would be suitable for you?
I used LineageOS many years ago, but my current phone isn’t well supported by any third-party ROM, and I’m not really interested in changing up the OS until at least after the warranty period is up.
I’ve tried some alternatives but from what I can tell they come with their own, even more glaring issues.
Argh, that’s frustrating to hear. Thanks for the info, though!
Rather unfortunately, my phone doesn’t have good custom ROM support, but I generally don’t have a problem re: worrying about spyware for a few reasons:
That said, I’m happy to hear that LineageOS is still a thing! I was using it many years ago, and I’m sure it’s only gotten better since then.
I appreciate that. All permissions, including the one to display over apps, have all been granted already.
Just now, I was on a call and couldn’t hang up! Literally no phone UI or notification that I could end the call from. 😵
If it’s opt-in, and the processing is done on-device, then I have no reason to be outraged.
But the skeptic in me asks “what’s in it for google?”.
