I used to kind of be against tax evasion, after passage of the big bunch of bullshit bill I’m philosophically on the side of small time federal tax evaders. Nobody should be funding this government and its massive hand jibber program for the rich. The federal tax code has completely become a way to redistribute money upwards.

  • People still don’t get that being anti “cancel culture” was cover for being pro sex pest the entire time.

A lot of dumb assholes fought for the right for powerful and rich people to behave with impunity without even the possibility of the minor admonishment of being known as a creep and have people boycott your products or being pressured to step down from public political positions in disgrace.

Similarly, the fight against “wokeness” is the fight to remove decency toward minority groups from the cultural sphere where we had at least a veneer of progress, leaving us with very little to no progress at all. (Because it’s certainly not the case that any real progress against racist, unjust institutions has occurred in the last ten years.)

  • Laws aren’t auto-enforcing magic. Any time that fossil fuel companies violate this stupid law (written for purely performative reasons) it simply wouldn’t be enforced.

Similarly, if the law allows for civil action, a multitude of reasons would be conjured on demand explaining why the lawsuit couldn’t move forward against fossil fuel companies. If it managed to move through district courts, it would simply wind up on the supreme court docket and they would again conjure up some reasons why the suit was invalid.

  • Like I get America isn’t without its problems, but if it’s so terrible, why is everyone trying to come here?

Many seeking asylum were coming for the promise of a stable federal government that operates under the rule of law (instead of working hand-in-glove with cartels) and that won’t disappear their family members, torture, or murder them like they encountered in their home countries.

They were coming for the promise of America, a promise that has been broken, battered, and pissed on at this point.

What do you think they came here for? ICE raids and Alligator Alcatraz?
