Without having told me this was a drag strip I’d have assumed this was an abstract piece, but with the context it’s an “okay, I see it now” situation.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the most horribly aged tv show of the 2000s?
48·3 days agoI tried rewatching How I Met Your Mother and couldn’t get more than a few episodes in because I was so bored. I’m sure my getting older is partly to blame (not as engaged by the unrealistic exploits of some mid 20-somethings), but also Friends-style comedy feels outdated now.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the most horribly aged comedy film of the 2000's?
7·3 days agoI watched it when it came out, and I remember it being pretty meh, with very few (if any) laugh-out-loud moments, or even audible chuckles.
Based on the world’s collective experiences during covid, I’m thoroughly convinced 4.15 billion of those people are actually wondering how they as individuals can work to make things worse.

33·6 days agoOkay but like, search is really bad now. Beyond just “welp, a bunch of bad actors figured out SEO, nothing we can do about that!” bad. At this point I wouldn’t discredit the idea that it’s something Google’s intentionally doing.

196@lemmy.blahaj.zone•The Gay and Lesbian Kingdom rules 🏳️🌈English
15·6 days agoWikipedia confirms (mostly)
The Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands (also known as the Gay Kingdom of the Coral Sea) was a putative micronation established as a symbolic political protest by a group of gay rights activists based in Australia. Declared in June 2004 in response to the introduction of a government bill to the Australian Parliament in May 2004 (which later passed in September that year) that codified the heterosexual definition of marriage, the Kingdom was founded on Australia’s external overseas territory of the Coral Sea Islands, a group of uninhabited islets east of the Great Barrier Reef. The Kingdom was dissolved on 17 November 2017 following the “Yes” vote in the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey legalising same-sex marriage.

1011·8 days agoTariffs have reduced exports, particularly to Canada, which was the largest foreign buyer of American wine.
Uh sure, it was the tariffs, and not the widespread Canadian boycott of American alcohol.

Tbh I’m a bit overwhelmed by how many OpenStreetMap-related apps there are.

I don’t know the circumstances of the college OP is referencing, but I didn’t even have a car in college, and knew only one or two people who did (mostly we either walked or took public transit; if neither were available we just didn’t go).
