If the left gave them a Sanders-like platform, which lays the blame for most of our problems at the feet of rich people, we could tap into that anger and use it to get some shit done. The strategy for the last 20 years has been to tell voters that everything is fine. That doesn’t work when they’re telling you “no it fucking isn’t”.

I don’t think anyone can do anything without fear of prosecution anymore. That’s a big part of this administrations strategy. Merit of a lawsuit has no bearing on the situation if it costs you hundreds of thousands of dollars to prove your innocence.

I wish I shared your optimism. Nothing in my experience of life tells me that betting on the left, especially their elected representatives, to not do something stupid is a good plan.

We’re still accelerating towards the cliff. Mitigation starts with taking our collective foot off the gas, both literally and metaphorically, but that is so far out of the realm of possibility that we might as well be talking about actual magic.

You’re not wrong but everyone seems to think that’s someone else’s job. We’re not going to see actual change until people like you and I start fixing pipes ourselves.

The logic is “I hate my job so you have to hate whatever you spend most of your time doing too”. It makes sense if you think life is supposed to be hard but it seems like the obvious solution is to make life easier for everyone rather than harder for those who have trouble participating in our dumb economic system.
