Scientology has grotesque space aliens flying across the universe in jumbo jet shaped space craft and dumping millions of souls into volcanoes that later attach to your soul and hinder your life.

Mormons have dumb stories about land bridges and magic dudes doing extra magic to hide secret texts for bigamists to find.

I think Scientology has got this one.

Mormons are absolutely Christian. They believe in christian god, christ as savior, etc. They simply have an extra, more modern prophet who “discovered” more scripture.

This is exactly my overall point. Protestants/Catholics/Mormons all believe Christ is mankinds savior. Those are all Christians. As long as they have that central tenant, that’s the only relevant aspect to being classed under that label.

Jews/Muslims do not, and therefore are not Christians. That doesnt make sense with Catholics/Mormons, since Christ is the central element of both faiths. The push to label them as non Christian is the hateful aspect. It excludes on arbitrary lines in order to delegitimize what is often more “caring/kind/etc” teachings than a lot of the modern evangelical/Protestant faiths.

The above doesn’t track. Every sect of Christianity thinks its the “true” sect, but you aren’t likely to see a Methodist claim an Baptist isn’t Christian. They just claim they aren’t following god correctly.

Attempting to remove catholics or even mormons from being “Christian” at all is just a push to de-legitimize them as religions entirely. It’s not reasonable, it’s hateful by design, an intentional “othering.”

  • This was shown before the sentencing. The judge referenced it explicitly in their sentencing as a reason to apply leniency.

    From a comment above:

Here’s what the judge had to say:

“I loved that AI, and thank you for that. As angry as you are, and as justifiably angry as the family is, I heard the forgiveness, and I know Mr. Horcasitas could appreciate it, but so did I,” Lang said immediately before sentencing Horcasitas. “I love the beauty in what Christopher, and I call him Christopher—I always call people by their last names, it’s a formality of the court—but I feel like calling him Christopher as we’ve gotten to know him today. I feel that that was genuine, because obviously the forgiveness of Mr. Horcasitas reflects the character I heard about today. But it also says something about the family, because you told me how angry you were, and you demanded the maximum sentence. And even though that’s what you wanted, you allowed Chris to speak from his heart as you saw it. I didn’t hear him asking for the maximum sentence.”

Of course. Look at the “network state” concept that the alt right tech bros love.

Tiny nation states ruled by the elites, where laws and rights are set not by a wide ranging view of human rights, but by those in power. One of your only rights is the ability to leave. To where? Who knows, and surely nit with all your valuables going with you. No voting, not basic dignity, nothing else if the techo kings dont want to provide it. Corpo kings, contract as the only law.

The end state of the above and fascism is the same. A ruling class that sets the rules, and a citizenry that has to abide by them, or else.

Is it literal fascism? Who knows. Are you under the boot of a privileged class, at the full mercy of their whims just like monarchy or fascism? Yes indeed.

  • The lift here is that you setup the end users client. If they aren’t local, buy one and ship it. Since it will be on your always on tailscale vpn, you can then interact with it remotely if needed.

Android tvs can be had for $35, Raspi 5 are around the same range, with apple tvs about $130. Have people pony up the cash and mail one of what they want out to them.

That may be too much to ask if you share to a lot of casual friends/family, but its been a successful answer for me.

  • Jellyfin takes more work, but can be a “simple” end user experience if you set it up for them.

Use a reverse proxy to get a letsenceypt cert for your jellyfin server. SWAG, Caddy, lots of options. Then setup a free tailscale account and add your jellyfin server to your tailnet. Install the jellyfin and tailscale apps on the user android tv/apple tv/computer, then enroll the devices in your tailnet.

They will have always on, ssl secured, vpn protected media sharing for free.

  • He lost to a liberal canidate named Bruce. Poilievre and Carney ran in ridings in different providences, but the ridings are geographicly right next to each other. Poilievre lost for the first time in 20 years, and Carney was elected as MP for his first time ever.

Hilariously, someone shouted out “Bruce!” during Carneys acceptance speech. Carney said he was looking forward to working with Bruce. Its being read as shade, since thats a gracious thing you say about an opponent you still have to work with, but in Poilievre case, thats not a problem Carney has.
