needanke@feddit.orgtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•When lunatics start talking about expelling all Israelis 'Back to Europe' instead of integrating them in a one-state solution5·3 days agoHow many wars do you hear the Zoroastrians committing?
Tbh I never heard of them at all.
Pastafarians too.
I feel like that’s more of a political group cosplaying as a religion for legal reasons and social commentary.
And weirdly enough Jehovah’s witnesses.
They are litterally christians.
Why have disdain for someone wanting to believe in a story? Lots of people do lots of worse lies to themselves.
I don’t have disdain for that. My problem with organized religion is that it gives an easy in for maipulators. And naturally defining an arbitrary dividion into an ‘in-group’ and non-believers leading to conflicts.
And (what the main point of my original comment was) this is not limited to abrahamic religions:
Once a fringe Indian ideology, Hindu nationalism is now mainstream (La times)
decades earlier, while Mahatma Gandhi preached Hindu-Muslim unity, the RSS advocated for transforming India — by force, if necessary — into a Hindu nation. (A former RSS worker would fire three bullets into Gandhi’s chest in 1948, killing him months after India gained independence.)
How Buddhist Nationalism Defines Myanmar’s Politics (The Yale review of international studies)
But one view that hardliners and pro-democracy monks share is that they consider Rohingya Muslims ‘outsiders’ and want them sent to detention centers and deported

How is anything in the comment you were replying to even remotely suggesting they are a facist? Not everyone you disagree with is a Nazi…
(And ironically “everyone who is not 100% with me is akin to my worst enemy” is a very facist mindset)
Please be a nicer person.

As I understand our current understanding of time it is still not countable.

needanke@feddit.orgOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•I think my server might not be a fan of the upcoming heatwaveEnglish3·8 days agoOuch, I will defenelty check on the system temps once I get home. Although I can’t really shut the whole thing off, maybe I can at least spin down the drive pool and kill all containers relying on that.

I don’t really do disk spindown as they are active most of the time anyways (Zfs spends most of the time scrubbing).

(Note that this is not your next-door bookstore and quite a big chain not without controversies)
Compared to (my impression of) north America I think there are some contributing factors:
- Less sprawl: Bakeries are usually in a town/neighborhood (which has more nature compared to the US, therefore also more insects) and not surrounded by a huge parking lot where no wasps would live. There are also many neigbouhring properties with different owners/occupants. So their nest might nor be on your property or even somewhere where you’d be able to locate it.
- (more) indipendent shops: I see waaaay less wasps in the baked good section in supermarkets here as well. Bakeries are usually not huge so it is just a short distance for the wasps to fly in a confinded space. Bakeries are also not usually airconditioned which would probably irritate wasps.
- conservation laws: Wasps are considerd a protected species in Germany and catching, harming or killing them without a proper reason can carry a fine of up to 5-65k€ depending on the kind of wasp and the state. In general wasp nests can only be moved by professional and licenced exterminators (and they only do it when necessary, like the nest being near a kindergarten or in an occupied builduing).
I don’t think I personally would have removed this (I was thinking about it before the explanation was posted but decided against it after it was). But I think the other mod who did had a point. Before removal that comment had -21 votes so it’s clear most people did not get or approve of the joke either.
While I don’t think it’s xenophobic, I do think it might encurage harmfull behavior (i.e. some edgy kid actually doing what the comment suggested). Combined with the poor reception of the joke I think the removal was justified. And even if it wasn’t it’s not nice to call the removing mod a bastard.

That’s not how I understood it. The message context is allways encrypted in transit (using a novel encryption scheme). The auth_key_id however is not encrypted. And that can be used to track users as it is s(semi-)static.
