Nah. Even someone who has never used another editing app would realize the UX is terrible, and it’s harder to do basic things than it should be. There’s too much stuff on screen and the UI looks terrible.

Audacity isn’t a DAW, it’s an audio editor which makes it very different from Reaper.
Audacity isn’t a fully fledged DAW, it’s an audio editor that’s mostly for recording, making quick edits, or fixing up audio. I don’t think it’s really possible to use it in music production yet.
There were UI improvements
Barely. It’s the same old terrible UI and needs a complete overhaul.
When you start the app for the first time it asks if you want to enable anonymous telemetry, but otherwise I don’t think it sends anything.

Technology@lemmy.world•Hands-on with the Anbernic RG 55G1; Anbernic's Snapdragon GambleEnglish
5·2 days agoEvery now and then Anbernic just throws a curveball and makes a weird device nobody really wants, this being one of them. I don’t really understand the choice to make it 16:9 considering the only 16:9 system it can run is the PSP, and it’s not strong enough for anything even resembling PS2 with widescreen hacks.
It’ll probably go on big sales like other Anbernic stuff soon enough, might find it even going down to $100 on AliExpress or something by the end of the year. But still, it’s just an awkward little device.
I’m surprised PixelJunk is still a thing. I haven’t played one of these in ~10 years.
miss the good days of video games when people just loved games and everything about them.
Eh, that’s just nostalgia talking. The internet has always been like this around games. If you opened a forum about games 20 years ago, chances are you’d get called a slur for liking one console over another. I occasionally look at old '90s magazines and you’d be surprised how elitist many of them were back then, too.

0·27 days agoIt’s so unbelievably stupid, I don’t know how Xbox is constantly surprised many of their games flop when they are constantly booting the only talented devs they had. id Software is one of the most talented studios they have, and one of THE most talented graphics programmers in the industry. WHY would you fire them when at the very least you could move them to help in a different project instead of firing them? Literally just take them and make them help with the next Fallout. God.

Gaming@lemmy.world•What part or parts of your favorite game do you always dread doing?English
0·29 days ago(context: Deepnest is from Hollow Knight)
I love Deepnest, honestly. It seems like a horrifying confusing maze in your first playthrough but once you’re done with it you realize it’s not as big or scary as it seems. I could do without the last part of you escaping, but it really isn’t that bad. Unless you’re scared of insects, then it’s really bad.

0·29 days agoI’m with you on that. It’s all fun and games until pantheon 4 and especially pantheon 5. I like the idea but it just takes so long and the fact that you have to repeat 20+ minutes of bosses to take another attempt at the ultra hard bosses at the end… It’s just bad.
Hollow Knight is one of my favorite games ever btw, but Godhome is most definitely not worth the massive time sink it demands from you.

0·29 days agoElden Ring replays are soooooo much better with mods. Not only are there mods to make Torrent like 2x faster, some mods just lets you skip the tedium of running around the map collecting golden seeds or rebalances the DLC so it doesn’t use scadutree fragments.
Shoutout to The Convergence mod which adds a whole load of content and quality-of-life.

Programming@programming.dev•Box3D | A revolutionary new physics engine developed by Erin Catto in collaboration with a Valve devEnglish
0·2 months agoIt’s really cool, Box2D is still sort of the golden standard for 2D physics engines, and maybe Box3D can be that with enough support.
But since announcement I’m still wondering what it offers versus other open source 3D physics engines. How does it compare to something like Jolt or Rapier? I only saw one person saying that Box3D is faster than Rapier when compiled to WASM, but we definitely need good comparisons at some point to know if this is a big deal or not.

0·2 months agoOne of the fund’s main criticisms concerns the commercial management of Elden Ring. While the game has been a major success worldwide, Oasis believes Kadokawa failed to fully benefit from that success.
Huh??? They made a very successful DLC, a very successful spinoff game, a licensed manga, and a Hollywood movie coming up. What more do they want them to do?

The Flatpak version is still stuck on Audacity 3, it hasn’t been updated in months.
