So when internet search is replaced with AI chat, how are we supposed to check?
Why are we doing anything with AI if we have to check it for accuracy every time?

Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•Ford's $30,000 EV pickup is getting closer - You may even see one out in the wildEnglish
0·9 小时前Dammit!
I want one no bigger than the Maverick. Heck, if it just had whatever they called the storage space behind the front seats that was less than a whole second row I would consider it despite being a Ford!
Small and short pickup type utility vehicles need to come back as EVs. Something to haul around stuff you wouldn’t want in a hatchback or minivan, but comparable in engine power and how they drive.
Takes a stand by sitting down.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•20 Jobs that people once thought were irreplaceable are now just memoriesEnglish

Criminal enterprise counts as a job?
List includes both switchboard operators and switchboard managers. Where is the pin setter manager? The elevator operator manager?
Projectionists were responsible for operating film projectors in movie theaters, ensuring that films were displayed correctly for audiences.
Projectionist is still a job that exists even if the tools they use has changed.
Typesetters still exist even if their tools have changed.
Looking ahead, what other jobs might we see fade away as new technologies and trends emerge?
I bet this article is clickbait for ‘AI is going to take jobs’.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Good way to see all of your votes in a given community?English
12·11 小时前There are a few communities with mods who accuse anyone who downvotes as few as one or two posts in the community without also upvoting or commenting on something else as being a ‘serial downvoter’ even if their actual ratio overall is over 95% upvotes. So if your overall ration on lemvotes is mostly upvotes it was probably one of those mods, especially if they banned you from one or more AI slop communities.
I would check and see if you are even missing out on anything from the community and just ignore the ban if you don’t care about the content.
Trump is the harmful kind of joke, like those that perpetuate racist stereotypes.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•In a state that offers legal aid is it worth it? Or is it pretty much the bottom of the barrel for defense and compensation?English
0·1 天前The biggest reason that a public defenders struggle sometimes is because they have more limited time and resources compared to private defenders who can generally scale effort with the amount of money thrown at them. That is mainly an issue with society’s priorities, since we throw far more money at prosecutors.
In addition to letting the sheets and blankets breathe already noted, a made bed lends itself to being used for things like folding, sorting, or hanging up laundry because it is a flat surface where socks can’t get lost in folds and shirts can be laid flat before putting on hangers.
I didn’t see benefits earlier in life but now I do. By made I just mean sheets and blankets laid flat, not tucked in or anything extra. Just a few seconds of getting then spread mostly evenly.
You can be proud of fooling someone like me who had not had enough coffee yet into thinking you were serious, well played.
Adding a horizontal reflecting shelf the length of the hallway is far less likely than lining up reflections. It doesn’t even make sense.
If you start with the hallway floor and then mark out the same distance as a reflection it all matches up.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do people who were blind from birth see anything in their dreams, or is it just audio and textures?English
0·2 天前I was thinking about how dreams are just our brains processing visual data from our waking lives.
Do you not have sounds and or other sensory experiences in your dreams?
It looks like it from the perspective, but there is no shelf. All the reflections just line up to look that way.
