Replies were bombarded with harassment and enbyphobia, trotting out the usual, “Why did you say their? Is she a group?” talking point, like a wall of Buzz Lightyear toys repeating their stock phrase. Others ask how to un-back the project, some describe the announcement as a “threat,” and then come the usual buzzwords: Erika Ishii is a “toxic activist,” a “woke idiot,” “Antifa terrorist,” and a few blatantly racist descriptors we obviously won’t repeat here. Understandably, Double Fine turned off the comments.

I know them from frequent guest spots in Dropout comedy shows. Very funny person with big energy.

Voice actress for Atysu in ghosts of Yotei I believe. She identifies as gender fluid and a believe has partner. Asian, woman and LGBTQ, the thee capital troglodyte chud capital “G” Gamers nerve popping trigger points…or at least that’s what they’re told should be their trigger.

She was also Ana Bray in Destiny 2

Chuds hated her because Jin Sakai is dead (it’s centuries after Tsushima) and Suckerpunch chose to have a gasp WOOMEAHN be the main lead this time.

“Since this is the only platform where people can’t seem to be normal about this, the comments have been locked”

Not sure why you’d even bother announcing anything on X these days, really.

Yup. Noticed this with plenty of “fans” opening thread after thread of hateful drivel on Steam forums, e.g. for Paralives. These people are clearly not interested in the game. Some even confessed to having been incited by alt-right streamers.

Oh I got excited for a moment thinking the cancelled paradox sims game got made after all, but it’s a different one. Is it good? What’s the controversy anyway, did they allow creating characters that conservatives don’t find attractive or something?

Yeah, zero chance people like that were actually going to play paralives to begin with.

Not too long ago, I ended up randomly on one of those “curator” lists where they review basically everything in terms of wokeness. You know, so you can buy responsibly or something. That shit is hilarious.

Like half of the “nope” have no reason but “there’s gay marriage in it”, but wait, Skyrim has that too… “Err yeah, but we like that one so, it’s okay. For… reasons.”

And I remember one game getting a “Not Recommended” with the only line in the whole review being “In the trailer, you can see a man who’s knitting”.

I’m no more likely to read Steam forums than X for the most part. The only exception is if a post comes up as a search result when I’m troubleshooting some issue with a game, and even then it’s an odds-on chance it’ll be useless. Otherwise, stay away!

Drinks at Nazi bar, is surprised by Nazi patrons.

Stop fucking using Twitter to announce anything. “We go where the people are” is no longer an acceptable excuse for your business keeping any presence on Twitter.

Yes. Absolutely floors me. Given the research on bots vs humans, fascism, etc. that plagues Twitter, playing the “but the audience” card holds no merit.

I mean, I tried to watch some of L.A. By Night and didn’t really love her there, to be honest. Didn’t make me dislike her as a person or anything though, or as a voice actor. I think she’s talented. Just made me stop watching the show.

I doubt they ever played anything from double fine based of their reactions. Just harassing for the sake of it. I don’t get why or how people get like that. Gotta be lead poisoning or some deeper illness because I genuinely don’t understand how someone could become that antagonistic towards others who have done nothing wrong.

Also as a side note, it baffles me that people use “antifa terrorist” as a label. It is helpful in immediately outing the crazies as crazy though

Man, I fucking love Erika. They play a character on Hello From The Magic Tavern nicknamed “Sword Bro” who’s a dude who’s really into swords, but also low-key but high-key appropriates dragon culture and constantly wants to become a dragon lmao
