Yeah that makes sense. That seems like a totally logical thing to decide.
GOP wants to oppress everyone.
Close, the GOP and evangelical Christianity want to control reality. So that nothing can potentially threaten their precious and absurd world view
They see the Handmaid’s Tale as the GOP platform.
It’s the handmaids tale and also the turner diaries, they want to do both
If there’s one thing we know about reality, it’s that absolutely nothing ever changes and there’s absolutely no way rigid rules ever end up doing great unintended harm even beyond the intentional harm /S
I see it more as hitting one’s self repeatedly in the genitals with a hammer.
“Haha gottem”
Whack whack whack whack
Next to legislating from the bench (which does have downsides), this is more or less what I’d hope for. They made weird laws. Make them have weird consequences.
So you can have men competing in women’s sports … as long as it’s due to a clerical error shortly after their birth.
Thus making gender markers useless as they no longer reflect reality, like if you were stuck with the address assigned at birth. Might as well get rid of the concept altogether.
You’re telling me they’re making the best solution the only legally viable fix? This is terrific.
Sort of gender theory accelerationism
I’m mainly playing it for laughs, but I don’t hate that characterization
“Are you trans?”
“Yes, but only because of a clerical error.”
Assigned Male at DMV.
I mean, that’s basically what being trans is. The government doesn’t define reality. Your name is what your name is, not what’s registered with a government database. “What even is a name?” Your name is just your name. That’s what a name is. If you’re born on a remote island, your name is what others call you. And if they respect you, they’ll call you what you want to be called - that’s what a name is.
Same with one’s gender: your gender is your gender, regardless of what some government database has it written down as. It’s how society is and the gender you go with. Make your own up, who gives a shit. That’s how society even works. That’s exactly how this weird gender-binary got put in place to begin with. Somebody made a decision and changed stuff to be this way. It doesn’t work and it’s really broken, so trans people have all individually decided to break out of that convention. Like being put in a box with spikes, some people like the spikes, some people fit around it, and other people it fucking destroys, so we decide to stand up and OH HEY WE’RE IN A SHITTY LITTLE SPIKEY BOX and get out of the box or change positions so it isn’t killing us.
Them refusing to change things to fit reality is the clerical error. It’s saying “the box is love. The box is life. If you are uncomfortable with the box, YOU’RE a pedophilepsychomurdererscumdeviantantichristevil.” And then proceed to do all those things, themselves.
Like bruh, it’s widespread plato’s cave but then being violent to keep people in the cave that have realized they’re in a cave
“You wanna leave the cave? Well, you can’t, this isn’t a cave, and now you have less food, give it to me. And you can’t go to other parts of the cave and no you can’t sit differently or change positions”
I can’t travel. I can’t get a passport out of fear. I’m an American citizen, trapped in my own shitty fascist country. I hope in 2028 things can change, and that they won’t get worse before or after then. Fuck. I wanna visit out of state family for the holidays who can’t travel, but I can’t because conservatives would rather be angry at being the victim of their own ignorance and hate.
It’s just the same shit, different millennium.
Less than 1% of people living there would even consider changing their marker on their documents. There are probably more clerical errors that happen than Trans folk who need their marker change.

Is Oklahoma fucking stupid?
Yes. They’re ranked amongst the lowest in public education throughout the entirety of the US.
which is really saying something, because education is incredibly terrible throughout the entirety of the US.
It might not be a stretch to say they are among the lowest in Western countries, perhaps even the world.
Now I’m curious who the lowest is. You’d have to define what “Western” is, quantify some ratings, and other static statistical definitions. I bet it’s Canada.
Oh wait, no, we have the south. Shit.
Yeah, it might be the US. I guess it depends on how the rankings work, when, and what countries are included.
Might be important to make a wealth:edu ratio. We’re DEFINITELY lowest in that regard. I’d put money on that. Probably lowest or very close to lowest in anything wealth:outcome.
Iirc they were the first state to buy trump-branded bibles for public schools.
The fact that God didn’t kill Trump for making Trump Branded Bibles is proof God doesn’t exist.
Oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh clah homa where the wind comes sweeping through the trees~
Where the wind tastes sweet and the grass tastes sweet, and yo mama, is home on the range
(Yes)
IT work is clerical work (this is why we call them tech priests, because they’re clerics)
A hacked server that changes every gender in Oklahoma to “CookedAF” is a problem caused by bad clerics, (the aforementioned tech priests), making it a clerical error.
Checkmate “supreme” court.
Of COURSE this DOESNT apply to Cis People!
-Republicans!
Research shows that when societies kick trans people out of sports and bathrooms harassment towards cis women increases.
Damn, it’s almost like trans rights are human rights.
Every time I read about that state, it’s something bat shit crazy.
I’m dead and this is stupid hell.
Glad to have a source that links the decision! Excellent article.
transphobia is the new boogeyman for the gop to keep the voters in line.
God, people are so angry and stupid at literally nothing but their own shadows
That whole idea that nature doesn’t regress is aging like milk.
That’s not really an theory to begin with. Evolution doesn’t imply progression in the sense of becoming generally better, but rather more suited to a specific pressure.
In this sense, organisms don’t regress unless you are speaking in terms of a specific advantage.
Have whatever opinion on the whole trans issue, making clerical errors permanent is ridiculous.
