That’s a 192 degree total which is wrong assuming those are parallel lines

Yeah, it’s funny either way, but would be even funnier if the answer had been correct.

The definition of degree is literally an arbitrary unit of measure, not a specific one.

Its not like measuring Roentgen, which can be good, bad or 3.6 which is “not great, not terrible”

Assuming those lines are parallel, wouldn’t the acute angle be 24.2º? Or is there something I’m missing here?

I think the most likely answer is that it’s a non-euclidean space.

He has not reset it between measurements, so its still showing his body temperature, not the angle he is pointing at.

I swear, people dont know how to use measuring equipment anymore. 🙄

Technically there is a notation for parallel lines so you can’t actually assume that, but I agree with everyone else that this would have been funnier if it added up to 180 degrees.

Btw. PSA to young folks, that notation looks like > on each line and some standardized tests will fucking get you on a technically with that shit, especially with the “it’s impossible to know” answer being an option.

Yeah I was wondering why it added up to 192°. Maybe I’m a freak, but I would’ve measured ambient temperature and drawn a supplementary angle. Also what scale is that thermometer on? That room is either really hot or almost freezing.

Looks like normal body temperature in Celsius. it’s probably holding the last measurement, presumably from under someone’s tongue.

Which just means it would have been even easier to make the supplemental angle add up! Ugh.

I don’t think most medical thermometers will read that low of a temperature, because if your body temp is 24C, you’re dead.
