I think they are cool and engineering behind them is fascinating but I don’t know anything/very little about tanks.

Big, loud, expensive, so heavy they often cannot cross bridges without collapsing through them, often get stuck in mud, have terrible gas mileage (literally gallons per mile, not miles oer gallon) …

… but can generally obliterate anything they take aim at, and most people’s attacks against them just bounce right off.

Do not make the mistake of mixing up ‘cook out’ with ‘cook off’ when talking to one though, that may trigger some PTSD flashbacks.

There was a visual novel game, probably over a decade ago… About a boy who went to “tank school” but ended up in a school of girls who were actually ww2 tanks. The funniest part is it was historically accurate to my knowledge. Like the American tank and German tank hated each other and the French tank kept crashing into things and had problems stopping.

      Wait.

Like… girls with… tankish features and … tank like personalities?

Or… just literally tanks, like… the school lessons are all taught on … firing range? Or… the class rooms are warehouse sized?

      … What?

      Also… was there a Maus girl/tank?

Just … what uh… big tready tank gf?

Oh god this sounds ridiculous lol.

The german tanks had to be very high maintenance and prissy?

T34-chan is like, always dressed in random patchwork clothes, screams urraaah, then immediately breaks down, but then fixes herself?

If this had a Bob Semple girl/tank, I … I need to find this now.

I like your way of thinking but sadly the M10 has been a victim of budget cuts.

      Perhaps you’d be alright with…

      https://defencesecurityasia.com/en/china-ztz201-medium-tank-hybrid-ai-drone-killer/

      https://defence-blog.com/china-develops-new-modular-tank-and-fighting-vehicle/

      Modular platform.

Sometimes its an IFV, sometimes its less of an IFV and uses that room for ATGM ammo stowage, sometimes it uses that room to store drones, as a kind of land mobile drone carrier, sometimes its a kind of… land mobile ELINT drone/comms jamming/snooping thing, sometimes its a … medium MBT?

It seems to have an actual active defense system, as opposed to the bullshit the Russians tried to sell to the Chinese a year or so back, which they eviscerated in their media when it was found that none of that Russian shit worked at all.

China appears to have invented a new class of fighting vehicle to go along with a new doctrine of armored combat.

TBF, the Israeli Merkava is also kind of an IFV, but it doesn’t have the native ‘drone carrier’ capabilities, afaik, nor an atgm oriented variant.

Nah, I’m not against all weapons, that’s idealism. I’m against weapons owned by capitalist empires, I’m in favour of weapons used to fight fascism, like the rifles and tanks sent by the Soviets to the Spanish Republicans, Anarchists and Communists in the Spanish Civil War.

        Ding ding ding!

Also… nobody specified this tank was armed with functional weaponry.

You can fuse/weld/sabotage a tank barrel into inoperability, you can unmount coaxial, cupola mounted mgs, even remove the smoke launchers and other counter measures, you can remove all the ammo and munitions.

IRL, this does happen, private tank ownership is pretty fucking rare, but it does exist, and they are basically civillianized in the above described ways.

They are also not road legal, for… hopefully very obvious reasons.

Maybe the most famous example of this is Arnold Schwarzenegger owning an M47 Patton and occasionally just taking it out to a track to drive around on, run over old junked cars and such.

        https://youtube.com/watch?v=jVs5kgvA_Ow

In case folks forgot, or are too young to remember… yeah, this is basically what Arnold decided to do after he finished being ‘the Governator.’

this is why I’ve always wanted to own a Kalashnikov rifle, preferably one of the ones used by the Soviet-backed forces of Afghanistan or Vietnam. Always felt it’d be rad as hell to have a piece of that history.
