Linux@lemmy.ml•Windows 10 refugees flock to Linux in what devs call their "biggest launch ever"
13·4 days agoI’m ok with that. You hit a point where a community sustains, and is good. Lemmy is a great example of that. Often, when it grows past that, it can become… unsavory.
Funny seeing this as the first thing in Top as I am missing my flight connection due to it. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

He is in his late 20s. He is not a young person, he is an adult. He’s only young compared to our overly old representatives.

1·6 days agoI might beat you to it. I’ve got Kiwix running in docker, just did a PR to the
kiwix-zim-updaterso it can run in Docker on a cron schedule next to the server, and have spun those up with Karakeep (self-hosted web archive I use for bookmarking).Right now I’m adding a ZIM list feature to the updater to list available ZIMs by language, and then I’ll move on to OSM.

4·7 days agoDo you recommend adding anything else to it?
For instance, OSM maps?
I’ve been thinking about running the Kiwix app + OSMAnd on an old Android phone and auto updating it once a year.

politics @lemmy.world•ICE arrests police officer in Chicago suburb and accuses him of being in US illegally
14·8 days agoCraig said that before Bojovic was hired, the village confirmed that he was legally authorized work in the United States.
“Background checks performed by the FBI and Illinois State Police revealed no criminal history,” he added. “If Officer Bojovic did not hold federal work authorization, he would not have been hired.”
He may have overstayed his visa at one point, but was currently legally here. Who knows since there is zero documentation requirements now.
Happens to me every year in the north parked outside. I have had it happen on low profile tires, van tires, and bike tires. I wonder if humidity plays a role? Or maybe the drasticness of the change, I’m pretty close to Canada.
You must live in warm climate 😀
Cold air in tires makes pressure go down. Low tore warning light.

My ring is made of silicone. Nice little grooves so it doesn’t trap sweat, too. Lightweight, durable, replacable, and a lifetime warranty.
