Critical thinking is less a skill and more a value.

I disagree fundamentally, I think it is a self-deceiving trap to fall into the belief that critical thinking is a value you can hold up to the light and check to see if it is true and then place back within your heart… critical thinking is rather a practice which is why good universities emphasize that they are not there to distribute information but as centers of practice with regards to learning.

In musical practice there is always the requirement for self reflection and adjustment, that is why good teachers are so helpful, they point out what is invisible to you but overwhelming present in blocking your further progress.

What inspires people to practice are not values, rather only some genuine desire for the pursuit itself can motivate you without burning you out to the core.

Also hard to feel like a point for me when that atrocious Meta settlement with the attorney generals that basically locks in profits via regulatory capture just came out…

Well that and the associated failure of tech culture in Silicon Valley and elsewhere to understand the important of organizing in the workplace not only to improve the quality of working conditions so you can truly show up and feel supported to do good work you are proud of… but also to ensure that the industry at a basic level remains functional and ethical.

If you look at the primary motivating reasons of a lot of industries striking in the US, it often has to do with a universal anger and grief that basic aspects of their work are being undermined by carelessness, nursing is a good example of that.

Tech workers had a moment of incredible cultural and material power there, and they failed to translate that into a set of truly professional standards and become something like engineering, plumbing or land surveying, something with a license, a set of high standards that are grounded in a philosophy of doing good honest work… like how doctors have.

This invited in the subsequent dehumanization of tech workers in the last 20 years and the rise of AI further rationalizing more dehumanization and devaluing of tech work.

The same way pilots fly their airplanes these days, they simply turn to the passengers and ask them all to open up their AI and ask how to fly a passenger jet airliner, then the flight attendants collect the various responses, collate them, deliver them via carts to the cockpit and the pilot makes a decision from there after reviewing all the material. It is much more efficient because most of the time you no longer need a licensed pilot which cuts costs in a virtuous way.

That kind of cutting edge business creativity is going to revolution every part of our lives, what do you mean “How am I supposed to use it?” !!! What kind of question is that? It is a question for AI!!! Don’t ask humans you weirdo.

Which is exactly why they buy up all the enterprise data streams and machinery around it relevant to the industry before they try it, so they don’t have to be competent…

I don’t disagree with the thrust of what you are saying, but you are also misunderstanding something here, **we aren’t talking about replacing a human employee with an “AI” for a task like creating a marketing image, we are talking about convincing large corporations and entities to feed all of their data into an “AI Lab” and then that “AI Lab” basically does traditional industrial espionage and sabotage to replicate the business model of the company/industry they were supposed to be assisting.

This would likely be done with a lot of automation, but it is CRUCIAL to understand this strategy can be done without AI at all, what is crucial is convincing organizations to hoover all of their sensitive data over to you and then leverage it in ways that are opaque enough that blowback either doesn’t happen or is long delayed.
