This is childish. You have to be prepared to do politics to win at politics. That means building bridges with people who share only some of your ideas and finding compromise where you can. It’s very clear that the more fundamental sections of the left are unwilling and unprepared to do this work which is why they remain on the outside looking in. All you are doing is quite literally ensuring none of your ideas ever see the light of day. It’s a losing strategy. It’s also why you don’t recognise the DSA playing this game and get butt hurt when they don’t take the hard line on every topic.

There is always a reason everything is published and it is never to “keep the public informed”. Just because you happen to agree with it doesn’t make it any more factual or less disinformation than the ones you don’t agree with.

Fighting the only people who might possibly ever be in a position to change it is a strange decision if it means so much to you.

Ye NK is not for me but we are world’s apart on this topic. It’s hard for me to articulate how propagandized the US is and how you are demonstrating that by thinking that NK is more propaganized. That very notion itself is proof of my observation but I realise this is not an argument that will cut through the noise for you and demonstrating this will be too time consuming so instead of arguing I would just invite you to think about your life journey until now, your education, the pledge of allegiance, the idea of the free market you grew up with and how that maps to ever growing wealth inequality, how health insurance is tied to employment, the endless support for war from both parties, the fact there are only 2 parties and this is somehow the pinnacle of democracy, the fact that no matter who you vote in they just do whatever capital tells them to do etc etc.

You’re not seeing this clearly. NK propaganda is so primitive they need to restrict the media people can consume. US propaganda mechanisms are so advanced and sophisticated that they can create the illusion of choice and the majority fall for it. There are so many avenues and strategies. The Koreans can’t compete. North Korea has a GDP of $34B. US marketing industry is nearly 18 times bigger than the whole of the NK economy. Do you understand what that means? They have to use crude methods because they can’t afford sophisticated ones.

The marketing industry literally evolved out of Freud’s psychoanalysis work as applied to US propaganda in the 2nd world war by his nephew Edward Bernays who then needed something else to apply it to after the war finished. American propaganda is so pervasive it’s fucking depressing. You go to Europe it’s there slapping you in the face. You go to South East Asia and it’s there again. I have never seen any NK propaganda outside what I see on Youtube.

Nowhere on earth is more propagandized than the US. It’s a literal $607B a year industry and it’s infected most of the planet at this stage.

I’ve pointed out the same here and you simply won’t get anywhere with these “ultra ideologically pure leftists”. As I mentioned before I suspect some or even many of the loudest voices in left spaces are plants. Otherwise you would have to deduce that left wing people are intellectually challenged as to not see this but given my lived experience that is not remotely the case.

They’ll do everything but hold social media companies to account for their editorial decisions (ie recommendation algorithms). All this would be very easily solved by banning algorithmic recommendations or at least mandating pluggable algorithms with a sane default that doesn’t prioritise rage bait over everything else.
