Kamala Harris has launched her campaign for the White House, after PresidentĀ Joe Biden stepped aside Sunday under pressure from party leaders.
The vice president has Bidenās endorsement, and is unchallenged as yet for the Democratic nomination, which will be formally decided at the Aug. 19 convention in Chicago.
āI am honored to have the Presidentās endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination,ā Harris said in a statement. āI will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Partyāand unite our nationāto defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda. We have 107 days until Election Day. Together, we will fight. And together, we will win.ā
In her statement, the vice president paid tribute to Bidenās āextraordinary leadership,ā saying he had achieved more in one term than many presidents do in two.
She should take a woman as VP!
Thatāsā¦ not a terribly pragmatic idea. These days, itās a good idea to pick a running mate whose strengths balance out or cover for the ticket leaderās weaknesses (real or perceived). Here, that means an uncontroversial white dude, because America is unfortunately still quite racist and sexist.
