I was already not happy with the choice of RDJ, but to hear the other pick was Mads Mikkelsen really twists the knife. Mads Mikkelsen would have been absolutely fantastic as Dr. Doom! Damn Disney/Marvel, this is why you are on a downward trend, you don’t make good decisions, you make safe decisions.

I dunno… ‘safe’ doesn’t mean good, and in Hollywood can often be the opposite. That being said, I agree with the rest.

Oh I wasn’t implying safe was good, it’s the worked shopped, focus group drivel they put out. They view it as safe, instead of taking a risk, making something with a creative vision. I’m sorry I hadn’t meant to imply safe was the best choice, quite the opposite.

What a shame, he would have been a delightful pick.

Funny enough I completely forgot he was in Doctor Strange until reading the article. Goes to show how forgettable some of the villains have been, I suppose.

My feeling on the RDJ as Doom news was that this is absolutely Marvel in panic mode. The last few years have been rough going and now they’re hoping to replay the hits.

Can’t imagine how picking the same actor for two different roles is the safe route. Marvel is scared.

In saying that, both actors have already played roles in the MCU. Mads was the villain in Doctor Strange.

But everyone knows RDJ as Tony Stark, a central character in the franchise, versus a one-off villain in a supporting character’s origin movie.

Mads Mikkelsen played Kaecilius in Doctor Strange. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean bringing him in to play the MCU version of Doctor Doom would be two roles. Kaecilius emerging from the Dark Dimension as the new Doom could’ve been interesting. Mister Doom? No, Doctor Doom. Normal name, not strange at all.

It’s a safe bet and it also means they’re going to keep leaning into the Multiverse shit. Victor Von Doom is a good character, you don’t need alternate dimension Stark for this. I guess we’ll see.

Would Mads make more sense as dr Doom? Yes definitely. But people hated the idea of RDJ playing iron man before the movie came out as well. And Mads already played a villain in the MCU and it was incredibly forgettable. So let’s see how it goes I’d say.

Oh, it just seemed super weird before, but now that I know they had a good pick (casting has done it’s job), it just makes me sad.

But big money is gonna big money I guess.

I just hope Doom won’t be like an Musk in a cybertruck suit type of character. It wouldn’t be that far off, I just wouldn’t prefer it.
