In her upcoming memoir, “Enough,” former Trump aide Cassidy Hutchinson details what it was like to work in close proximity to the former president during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recounting a visit to the Honeywell mask-making factory in Phoenix, Arizona, in May 2020 — after which Trump was criticized for, ironically, not wearing one — Hutchinson claims that his excuse that he “did not wear it after consulting the company chief executive,” was not entirely accurate.

According to The Guardian’s coverage, Hutchinson writes that Trump “decided on a white mask,” then asked staffers for their thoughts on the matter.

“I slowly shook my head,” she writes. "The president pulled the mask off and asked why I thought he should not wear it.

“I pointed at the straps of the N95 I was holding. When he looked at the straps of his mask, he saw they were covered in bronzer.”

“Why did no one else tell me that,” he snapped. “I’m not wearing this thing.”

“The press would criticize him for not wearing a mask,” Hutchinson furthers, “not knowing that the depth of his vanity had caused him to reject masks – and then millions of his fans followed suit.”

Everyday, I’m reminded of the lyrics to the theme song of a podcast I adored while it was still running.

“Everything is so dumb, everything is so dumb, and it’s gonna get dumber”

I’ve just recently got into BTB and it’s kind of my first dive into listening to podcasts and I love it, WYE sounds like it would have been right up my alley because I loved all those people when they were on Cracked.

It’s very focused on current events but there are still some banger episodes in there, the Cracked Alum are national treasures

Edit: it might have originally been on BtB but Robert had both Katy and Cody on to read his book The War on Everyone which if you like the rest of his work is gonna be something you want to listen to

The idiots in Idiocracy were aware of their own stupidity, and when the ones in power found someone smarter than themselves, they immediately stepped down to put him in charge of solving the world’s biggest problems.

The idiots IRL think they’re geniuses, and when they find someone smarter than themselves, they run a smear campaign and incite violence against that person.

We’d be fucking lucky to get the future depicted in Idiocracy - where we’re headed is MUCH darker.

President Camacho saw his nation’s problems, and to fix them he sought out the smartest man on the planet, asked him for solutions, gave him the power to enact those solutions, and promoted him when those solutions showed positive results.

Gimme politicians like that instead of the empty Viagra packets we’ve got now.

To be fair, Comacho also damn near executed Not Sure when he didn’t get results fast enough. There is something to be said for patience, as well as having the will to enact changes.

Not so much that he didn’t get results fast enough, but that his solutions had unforseen side effects re the ecominy automatically laying everyone off because the reduction in Brawndo consumption caused the stock to decrease. At that point, it looked like Not Sure hadn’t actually solved anything and created yet another problem.

Well I guess it’s kind of neat to confirm it but plenty of us knew from the start that was why he wasn’t wearing a mask. It wasn’t exactly a mystery that it was vanity and almost certainly related to his clown makeup.

I think a lot of the ‘bombshells’ that are coming out in various books and indictments is stuff that was called by basically anyone with common sense. The thing you initially suspected is always true.

This is such an incredibly stupid timeline. If somebody had told that insolent toddler that he looked like a badass in a black mask, hundreds of thousands of people would not have died.

Both unbelievable, and on the same note tragically believable. I don’t doubt for a second this is the exact reason he railed against mask mandates. Which lead to all the anti Vax BS, which lead to countless needless deaths.

Because he refused to not be orange.
