In the N. hemisphere we’re just getting in to summer, so shouldn’t it be an approximate match in the S. hemisphere for winter? And yet it’s already super-cold in Oz…?

        Yeah, I understand. 🙁

I was simply referring to one of the traditional measures of summer, i.e. the months June, July & August.

        You’re a warm-weather soul, I take it.

Here in the Midwest (United Sadness of America) we’re routinely below 0°C, often with a fierce wind that kicks off the Great Lakes to make for windchill temperatures of around -18°C. I can’t even imagine living in Canada…

Not talking to OP, talking to you. You might just be getting into summer, but it’s June 5th. Equivalent to Dec 5th for sunlight hours in the northern hemisphere. Is that usually warm for you?

I don’t seem to be following you. In the N. hemisphere, summers are generally warm, and winters are generally cold. At least, that’s generally been my impression living in various places in the States. And yes, I know winters can be very mild in various states / areas of the country.

You expressed incredulity that it’s already super cold in wherever OP lives, even though summer just began in the north. I was attempting to ground your perception in how it is around the same time of year for you as it is for them currently. Summer tends to pick up steam a little slower than winter does, mostly because the lows of winter are much lower than the highs of summer (comparing difference of temp to room temp and where most people start to think it’s cold vs where they start to think it’s hot)

You are allowed to answer questions even if you don’t know where they’re leading, we’re talking about weather, I’m not going to trap you into supporting some weird shit or anything.

Though, honestly, it’s probably on me and my 'tism for why this went off-rails.

“Incredulity” is probably a bit much, but yeah, I was curious. More conversationally than in terms of quantifiable pursuit, I’d say. In truth, regional differences in temp make any broad sweeping strokes about these things pretty-well useless, I suspect.

I’m not going to trap you into supporting some weird shit or anything.

Lol… well, you can always try.

it’s probably on me and my ’tism for why this went off-rails.

Hmm, that’s interesting. So in this case it manifested as a need to ‘calibrate me’ upon the points you were making? Me, I might just be on the spectrum myself, but I’m sadly not very good about self-awareness in terms of communication. Also on my end, being half-asleep due to my chronic health issue probably isn’t helping add clarity…

That’s a pretty neat glow from the brake light you captured there.
