“Just move your forests to the ocean…”

I am seriously starting to think Trump has never seen a forested area in his life. What a fucking dumbass.

Which is funny because if you’ve ever been to an area that’s recently been logged (or “thinned” as they like to spin it), the ground is completely covered by a thick layer of all the branches they’ve trimmed off. Nope, no fire hazard there…

The guy who told us to inject disinfectant during the height of the pandemic is dumbass?

Or the guy that rambles like an incoherent 4th grader winging an oral report in front of his class:

“Look, having nuclear—my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart —you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I’m one of the smartest people anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you’re a conservative Republican they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (nuclear is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what’s going on with the four prisoners—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.”

Yes. This guy is a fucking moron.

Ah yes. Plenty of extra water up “north.”

We should dampen the forests while California is going through historic droughts, telling people not to water their lawns, aquifers drying up, lakes going dry, and the Colorado River output decreasing and continual debates on where that limited water goes.

    Fucking idiot.

My comment from just this morning:

The whole thing was, if possible, even dumber than people think.

Can’t find the video any longer, all you can see now is Trump on the podium saying stupid shit, you miss the context.

Trump’s taking the stage, ill prepared as always, when he stops for a few moments to read a CDC infographic on ways to sterilize surfaces. Then he just turns on his mouth and lets it run.

God help me, there’s nothing more I can add to illustrate how idiotic it all was.

Oh, I remember, he also suggested somehow getting powerful light inside the body. The Covid briefings should have left no doubt amongst the populace that Trump is a blathering idiot that gives no thought to what comes out of his mouth or the potential consequences. That was mostly fine until he became the leader of the free world. That republicans are satisfied with him representing them is damming. Believe it or not, there are smart, articulate people with conservative politics. Trump is not among them.

I remember when Trump suggested raking the California forest would prevent wildfires.

He was our president then, elected by the US. It was a very embarrassing time for the USA. The world laughed at us. I didn’t vote for him but he still made me feel shame for our country.

“They say that there’s so much water up north, that I wanna have the overflow areas go into your forests and dampen your forests,” Trump said. “Because if you dampen your forest, you’re not gonna have these fire forest fires that are burning at levels that nobody’s ever seen before.”

    Absolute dumbass shit.

‘You have very poor land management,” he continued before recalling a conversation he had with an Austrian official about forest fires in that country. “He said, ‘Sir, we have more flammable trees than you do on your coast. We don’t have forest fires. We have land management.’ They take care of the land. They pick up the dead trees. You know, a tree doesn’t burn very easily unless it’s dead. Then it gets dry and it burns. The leaves on the ground – they’re five feet thick over here.”

Stuff that might be true (I’m never going to look into this) but isn’t funny. Goddamn Trump sending mixed signals here.

So, when I read a headline about a politician talking about something, and what they say sounds so far beyond ridiculous and stupid, I imagine there is probably some level of context that makes it less stupid, but just poorly stated, that the particular article has no incentive to show.

Apparently not this one, as Trump went on to blame the Governor of California for not dampening the forests, and suggested the water falling in the north is “free.”

That is honestly one of the dumbest things I’ve read from an adult, and people cheered for it.

For one, just California is over 5 times the size of Austria. Also we know that story never happened, though.

Not so sure about “leaves five feet thick”…… well, I guess I am and it’s one of the more ridiculous things he’s said, which is a high bar. I certainly have not seen five foot deep piles of leaves in California or anywhere… apparently he’s back to the “raking” thing. Of course Trump is a total expert on forest fire prevention.

It’s a statement of supposed fact that is very obviously not true and absurd, but sure - if I had to vote for the worst, it would be the ones that glorify violence or are about punishing his opponents. Saying the violent mob who invaded the capital and wanted to kill Congress members and the vice president were “full of love”, or discussing how his crowd should attack counter protestors, insisting H. Clinton should be in “jail”, or recently, suggesting that a US general be executed for communicating with a general in China. Also his number outs degrading statements about women are up there.

Oh, I remember when he said it. The statement of supposed fact I referred to mean the 5-foot layer of leaves, not the insane bleach “injection inside” and UV light “through the skin or… in some other way”. Like some other things he says, that has some basis in fact, but he’s way too dense and ignorant to really understand it, but chooses to talk in front of gigantic international audiences as if he knows what he’s talking about. There’s also an older therapy where they expose blood to UV to disinfect it, called ultraviolet blood irradiation. Definitely not with a lightbulb up your ass though.
