The amount of posts on support threads that I’ve written and then deleted because I realized the solution after typing it out, is crazy high.
As for the pinging though, I’m usually really good about not doing that. But I will admit I do selfishly ping a quick “hey” and then immediately start typing the question, sometimes. But only if the question is just a sentence or two, and only if the matter is urgent enough to need an answer quickly, but not so urgent that I should’ve just called.
Basically I’m trying to prime the pump by a few seconds, so by the time they actually get to their phone, after hearing the ping, my message will be there waiting. Instead of sending it all at once and then waiting.
Probably not cool, but, I really try to only do it when it feels necessary.

I write any messages like an email. I absolutely hate getting pinged, then wait for the reminder to get sent
Also, by writing like an email, you can do rubber ducky debugging. Saved my ass from multiple embarrassment
