There really is no defence for circumcision

Even most people with phimosis are able to be treated with topical steroids, leaving the rest of the medical reasons to be a vanishingly small number

Religion doesn’t get a free pass to mutilate little boys either. It’s a backwards and barbaric practice

America has weird and skewed ideas about cleanliness, as well as the generally fucked-up puritanical attitude to everything

Early attempts at sanitary practice seem the most notable reasoning in my estimation. Chalk that up with butchering methods and food preservation, then the notion at least has some ground to stand on. However, continuing such practices after further discovery or improved technique is just old habit.

I always liked the circumcision debates on Reddit, it could really rile up the American crowd
