*KDE for Windows 10 Exiles*
Upgrade your software, not your computer

In this post #KDE presents Plasma as one of many great interfaces available in #Linux, and they include some tricks for making the migration from #Windows 10 easier.
@kde @be4foss @kde_espana and @kubuntufocus support #EndOf10 to prevent #eWaste!
Toots do not equal a recommendation.

That title got me very surprised for a moment
even that would not be false, plenty of KDE software can run on Windows 10
(remember that “KDE” is the name of the community, not of the desktop environment “Plasma”)
Then what does the DE in KDE stand for?
(Edit: it was more of a joke, but I guess I am serious. Has it officially become not an acronym?)
according to https://dot.kde.org/2009/11/24/repositioning-kde-brand/ “KDE” no longer stands for anything
This article actually helps. I knew that plasma was the preferred name but never knew about the actual changeover. I didn’t realize it was over a decade ago though!! I guess I can still keep saying “I use kde” since I still use all the k* software in addition to the kde plasma desktop environment.
Well that’s not confusing at all
I know, but plenty of people call Plasma just KDE, and the thumbnail is Plasma desktop.
Funnily enough there was an unfinished port of plasma to windows
Yeah, I use Okular for viewing my PDF engineering documents because fuuuuuuck adobe. IT makes my computer slow enough as it is, I don’t need adobe making it worse.
That was, at some point, an ongoing project. You can still install individual KDE Gear apps separately, but a whole Plasma shell to replace explorer.exe would have been fun
Apologies for the YouTube link, but it’s the only source I can find referencing it at the moment
