      The article went into that as well. The Republicans will end up more committed to Trump, because their rules bind Trump’s delegates to vote for him on the first ballot, no matter what. If he is still in the race, they will vote for him. And is there really any chance at all that he will withdraw, even if he gets convicted? Nothing short of death will keep him from becoming the Republican nominee.

      This seems profoundly unlikely based on the SCOTUS reception to the idea.

      I think our only solution to this Constitutional crisis is political or repaired by a sudden chance medical condition.

      Odds are 50/50-ish on who has the medical issue though.

      Honestly then Democrats win, because Trump is running. Even if he’s not eligible he will whine and moan and a considerable segment will write him in or protest or not vote in protest.
