  • Depending on your situation, a big fuck off size pair of noise cancelling headphones (or if budget doesn’t allow, just headphones that looks noise cancelling), and being as absorbed into your screen as possible usually works. When I eat lunch on my own, I sometimes even furiously type out a long winded rambling and incomprehensible email to myself to make it look like I’m super busy. The people who see eating by yourself as a bad or concerning thing usually don’t see treating lunch as a work catch-up hour as a bad thing

    I actually thought I had dyslexia for a while because of this, plus if I don’t read correctly (which for me requires memorising each word in a sentence, then interpreting it as a sentence, as opposed to reading each word and interpreting it by itself), I get the order of words mixed up

    One helpful thing I found is that it can skip “non music sections”, ie those cringey silent scenes they put in YouTube videos. If that’d existed a couple of years ago, I probably wouldn’t have switched to Spotify. I mainly switched because I was sick of random 10 second pauses for dramatic effect in the middle of songs, often right before the chorus
