  • Most people their opinion is based on feelings, which often exist because of a screaming idiot on TV.

For example, my mom wants Islamic people out of this country, because they are criminals and do not belong here. She’s lived her entire life in white neighborhoods, never had any experience with crime happening to her by anyone, but she feels this way because of a right wing politician screaming on TV. I have no issues with Islamic people while I live in a neighborhood full is mixed cultures, including many Islamic people. Any factual counter argument I present to my mom feels for her as a personal attack, because I’m attacking her feelings with logic, so the counter attacks with bullshit like “you have no respect to your parents/elders”, “I’m not allowed to say anything anymore these days”, “what do you know, knowledge comes with the years, I’m older so I know better”. She assumes I’m just attacking her extremist comments because of puberty (I’m 37) and to make her feel bad.

I feel like she represents most people, as most people; assuming what people say on TV / internet is true, creating a feeling and opinion based on that which is carved in stone, seeing any counter argument as a personal attack, throwing counter attacks based on words put in other’s mouths because attacking that is much easier then properly constructed factual counter arguments (because they don’t have any).

FYI I ended all contact with my mom. She’s angry about that too, she lacks the ability to see her actions have consequences. Again, like most people.

You say “An opinion with zero relevance or weight is absolutely useless.” That is completely true. But those opinions do make people vote in a certain way. They do fuel hate. They do spread fake news. They ruin our society. So even though they have zero relevance and weight, they are super relevant and carry a lot of weight at the same time.

  • Everything in the cloud is their property. And everything works in the cloud, so. Yeah. Cloud software is awesome. Pay per month, everything you make isn’t your property. It’s double penetration without lube, while all you wanted to do is some photo editing or illustrating.

Piracy is the answer. Back in the days you would miss out on things when pirating, compared to the purchased version. Now you’re missing out when you pay, compared to piracy. Why would I pay to have more restrictions and less rights then when I pirate for free? When I get caught with an illegal copy of photoshop, whatever I created will still be my property. I’ll get a fine, but still have more rights then a paying customer.

It’s a fucking dystopian world we live in.

If the person who died in Disneyland due to their allergy never used Disney+ but would have illegally downloaded a Disney movie instead, the lawsuit wouldn’t have been rejected by Disney as they never lost their rights by agreeing to their terms of service.

I rather have the risk to get a fine for illegal downloading then to pay to lose my rights.

So whenever there’s an open source project, no matter how imperfect it may be, to help people achieve their goal without mega corporate rape, I wouldn’t dare say anything bad about it. I don’t want to pirate, I feel like I have no choice and open source projects like Gimp are a great alternative. Also, I don’t mind paying for something if it would become my property and I would keep my rights and privacy.

  • Yeah, in the 3rd party program I also see my mouse, keyboard, Webcam, headset, external sound card, Bluetooth dongle, etc listed which I need to remove to get my minilogue within the first 10 devices. I just don’t bother anymore, I live with the onboard digital oscillator and effect presets and won’t change any of those. The machine is awesome though, wouldn’t change it for anything. But the software support is so shit I just don’t use it anymore haha

  • Do you mean USB devices? Because yeah, that’s a Korg thing. Removing the devices doesn’t work for me, I have to delete the data with a 3rd party program, then connect the Korg as one of the first 10 devices while my usb hub is in the back of my synth tower. Next time I boot up my pc, all usb devices are mixed again so big chance the korg is number 23 or something again, making me redo every step. This is why I never have my Minilogue XD updated or why I change banks or effects on it.
