Democracy is only appropriate when the society in question is willing to accept the results of a democratic vote. If divisions in the society are so ingrained that this doesnt happen, then democracy doesn’t work.

A very strange post. I live in a mid size English town (not a city) and can find all the cuisines you mention within a one mile radius of our town centre. Plus numerous others such as Greek, Turkish, French, Egyptian, Portuguese, Bangladeshi. Even American, god help me.

I got permabanned a couple of days ago. I saw a post where a girl was moaning about a woman she worked with taking the mickey out of her whenever she used a big/obscure word. The example she gave was ‘franchise.’ So everyone was telling her their favourite obscure words to drop onto conversation. I suggested that she should threaten to ‘defenestrate’ her colleague cos that is probably my favourite word.

Got a warning immediately that I had threatened to physically harm someone. Laughed. Went to bed. Woke up the next day to find I’d been banned
