  • I don’t believe this crap for a second - they can afford all the security they need to protect themselves. I think this is an attempt at manipulation to keep us at bay for a while until we cool off & resume living like before this happened, so they can continue doing what they’ve been doing all the while knowing that they shouldn’t push much further for now.

Let’s face it - human attention spans are short, and in three months or so this will be pushed back in most people’s minds as they continue dealing with their day-to-day struggles. This messaging is designed to make us feel “heard” so we wait to see what happens rather than risk our lives on taking further action, but after a while nothing will have changed & it’ll all be the same as before.

There are plenty of people who do just that (minus the clothing) everyday without killing anybody, and they don’t get anywhere near that level of recognition. The reaction here actually reflects a dark side of us all in that we wish we had the guts to take out such definitive retribution upon the wealthy - the ones that put most of us through the meat grinder to extract whatever value they can from us, and then just toss us aside when they’ve taken all they can, leaving us broke & hopeless.

  • While I don’t disagree in principle, you need to walk many miles in their shoes to see how they got to that point of anger and frustration. Maybe cut them some slack from the start by letting them vent, and them only give them some shit after you’ve demonstrated significant patience with them & they’re still being pissy. Sometimes people in those situations get tired of explaining and/or justifying themselves over and over, so they adopt an acerbic attitude just to push people away so as to avoid having to do it so much.

The world can be incredibly frustrating for those so disadvantaged, and some of them just don’t have the mental fortitude to stay positive through it all.

  • Depends upon the disability. For obviously physically disabled people with well-known diseases, you’re absolutely right. For those diseases most people have never heard of (my Type-I spouse has charkot, for example), or are less obvious such as severe depression? Yeah, they do get treated like they’re being absurd because many other people don’t understand their difficulties and thus don’t take them seriously.

  • He ain’t the what any sane person would like, but in a crowded market of shitty politicians to choose from, he could be far worse - as many believe (myself included) we’re about to find out.

Regardless, 1,500 people is a LOT to review the backgrounds of - especially with the time he has left. I don’t think we should be surprised a few bad apples made it through the review process, and I’d rather risk that than those who actually were deserving of it not get theirs as well.

TL;DR: I don’t think an understandably rushed process makes him any more of an imperfect human being than he already was. I’m not happy with some decisions he’s made, but on the whole he’s been no worse than the average.

  • There a significant difference between having a perspective on the bigger picture versus “defending” one aspect of it. The person you’re attacking stated they weren’t defending Biden because it’s obviously wrong, but they were pointing out that in the larger scheme of things it’s comparatively SOP or even small peanuts compared to other similar wrongs committed by other people in the same position.

I’m quite disgusted with the Biden administration’s handling of Netanyahu myself, but that doesn’t mean the answer is to replace it with someone with an even worse human rights track record.
