I’m still unsure whether they actually believe what they are saying makes any kind of sense and could actually be deemed a rational thought or whether they are just pulling our legs. Either way, engaging in any kind of discussion with them should probably just be avoided
In my defense: there already was a very deep comment chain before this and the whole thing was just infuriatingly stupid
Just went back to that thread. The discussion continued for 4 more hours after I stopped responding, and no, it did not go anywhere. That was definitely worth everyone’s time
Wanna swap?
Me, yesterday
I think you might be reading a little too much into it. It’s just information that services will be closed that day, I see no political statement. They acknowledge it on the website: https://www.uvic.ca/news/topics/2024+flag-lowering-remembrance-day+news
The other days you’ve mentioned are neither well known nor are they statutory holidays, so it makes sense to actually provide some context
What am I missing? Remembrance day is a statutory holiday, what exactly is wrong here?
The reflection in the mirror makes me think this is surely real. Even the best AIs don’t understand mirrors
You can gain hearts back with “Practice to gain hearts”. You’re not moving forward with that but repeat old lessons. Paying is definitely not worth it for me.
That’s not sloppy, that’s simply wrong
70% instead of 5% is so far away that it’s pretty clear their system isn’t working. I would understand your criticism if we were talking about 10% vs. 5% but not with these numbers it’s clear this system never worked, even in a testing environment
It literally says Eurostat in the bottom right
Eurostat (European Statistical Office; DG ESTAT) is a Directorate-General of the European Commission (…). Eurostat’s main responsibilities are to provide statistical information to the institutions of the European Union (EU) and to promote the harmonisation of statistical methods across its member states and candidates for accession as well as EFTA countries.
So growth only until the west has it’s luxuries and fuck Africa then?
I guess the people in this thread here just hate people from developing countries or they haven’t read the article. Or could someone explain why people here celebrate this:
Rest of World analysis of that data found that a number of developing countries are plateauing in the number of mobile internet subscribers. That suggests that in countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Mexico, the easiest populations to get online have already logged on, and getting the rest of the population on mobile internet will continue to be a challenge.
And
The cost of data in Africa, for example, is more than twice that of the Americas, the second most expensive region.
Could you elaborate? What exactly is good about it?
We’re nowhere there yet though
Even if you know git, you wouldn’t assume that “discard all changes” affects untracked files. It’s bad design all around
