Okay that’s cool but even software projects like SimpleX need group chats for the software’s community to ask questions and such, where should they be hosted? Slack?

Fucking act like it then and calm down, I was just saying to the other guy, the issue is having to be online in order to connect contacts. That is a serious issue outside of people you’re already tight with, think abt how flaky people are even in important situations.
Besides, what makes XMPP perfect to me is that the ecosystem is mature, it will be around forever, it has a service I can use to access Canadian and US cell networks while abroad. It has an encrypted facebook style social media site in rapid development that any XMPP acct can login to so they don’t need to make a new account, that by design NEVER HAS THOSE ASSHOLES ON IT
Hopefully Webxdc on XMPP takes off more it’s currently only on Cheogram Android app and Delta Chat droid/pc. You can make collaborative editors and games n stuff if I guess you want encrypted tuxcart (someday)
I mean to set up the chat in the first place you gotta both be online. I think OMEMO is good idc if its quantum safe ill check later. Good tonmention ty, but if the government wants me bad enough to use quantum shit they’re just gonna go thru my device itself. Yeah I know abt post processing it all after stashing it. The american govt is gonna collapse first anyways #whocare #theytouchedthemoney #theytouchedthemoneyanditgotquiet
Look everyone I know smokes weed it’s really bad. More like a turn your brain on situation. You know how bad that is for your sleep architecture™ over a period of 4-5 years? It’s a wonder they can even remember what I said, but telling them to do something at a certain time? I’d be uncloseted as an authoritarian. The only way I even get people to use these apps is Appeal to Paranoia.
mistermodal@lemmy.mlto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Have you ever been shown the "clarity"?0·16 hours agoYour eyes have a sort of epidermal layer that can be damaged by all sorts of things. Viruses, dust, poor health, poor sleep. Compound that with eye strain and you have two potent but variable illnesses. Stay hydrated, eat plenty of protein, and hike frequently where your eyes will focus on distant objects.
Or maybe you are describing a schizophrenia thing, kundalini awakening, or something else I don’t have any experience with

If you don’t dust thoroughly enough things will look alright but people will feel vaguely unwell. Indoor air quality in general is something I notice constantly post-2019

Action in Venezuela5·17 hours agoI don’t think he is in an unstable political position based on reading about the agricultural communes (which isn’t a complete perspective just saying). If people are right to think he has enough support that fighters will come from across Latin America and fight the US, this may be remembered as buffoonish revenge against Venezuelan fishermen for their Cuban bros foiling frogmen in the Bay of Pigs. Welcoming any pessimism though because I am simultaneously playing catch-up on the history of every nation in the world

We’ll burn that bridge when we get to it. For the moment I want this to go on forever, so I don’t talk about any of that. My pipe dream is she randomly says we need to move far away. I don’t think that will happen.
Lot of people mentioning SimpleX but I can’t imagine trying to make someone go online at the same time as me to start sending each other messages without being annoyed. It also relies on funding from the British state IIRC.
On the other hand XMPP is a W3C internet standard, the server is super lightweight, plenty of tools and bridges work with it. Movim uses it, which is like an encrypted Mastodon where you can selectively make a post public but otherwise gates everything behind a login. Also you can send messages on the main phone network with the paid Cheogram service, but I realize that an unencrypted SMS relay is not a priority for everyone. I think it’s the bee’s knees.

Otherwise we wouldn’t enjoy using a website with its exact mechanics. We are warped. You see the upvotes and downvotes spreading to all kinds of sites. Lesswrong (nucleus of Hitlerian AI cult insanity) wasn’t satisfied and has two forms of upvotes and downvotes. Every site that implements them agrees the voting is meaningless or not to be taken seriously, but they make it their main aggregation tool.

Linux phones use all kinds of hacky workarounds. Until open source hardware really takes off, the goal is to make stuff work on these malicious devices.

I think everyone could get used to his addresses and get over their issues within time. His responsibilities to Venezuelans are far more important though, so I understand him not wanting to be our Fuhrer.
Well I would prefer a clean game anyways, so I can manage that for sure

mistermodal@lemmy.mlto United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•How couples meet in the US0·22 hours agoCurious which app though bc most of them just hit you with a wall of sorority girls. Like seriously I sat there on Hinge for an hour swiping left and it still had more. Bumble didn’t do that it immediately figured out who I like and I got a few dates off it, didn’t put a coin in the machine either. Still going out with someone I met off there. I didn’t even bother with these apps for years because they’re horrible but yeah that’s what worked for me. I forget which one of the apps isn’t owned by Match but the main ones are doing social experiments on people now or something.
They literally use an ELO system, by the way. Which is crazy. So if you swipe right on someone you are “challenging them” and you lose when they don’t want you, lowering your ELO score 💀. I don’t need to explain what they think a chess victory is in their ELO system. They’re US tech companies which means they get bored living in a money pit and do social darwinism for fun.

True, first time I ran into catastrophic problems (caused by entering in commands I copied from online, knowing damn well it was a bad idea), I got annoyed having to fish out corrupted files and shit, but I realized that anytime something had gone wrong with Windows I had no tools to fix it and could only check in on a loading screen that lasts hours. It was a learning experience
