My guess would be that few of these machines are used for ordinary web-browsing, or not even online.

Yes, off course Google removed it. Now you’re limited to gaudy oem skins of the lock screen.
Hope they make it available as a shortcut, same as ‘my apps’. The only two things I use the Play Store for.
