it’s worth the download time to kick it up a notch to 1080
In general? Yes, 100%. For cartoons on a small screen? Debatable.

I’d still be on the Pixel 5a 5G if it wasn’t for the screen dying (a common issue with that model). I loved that phone. In battery saver mode it would last 3-4 days with light use.
Love it when I can upvote an entire comment chain.
Yes, DDG results have seen a major drop in quality in the past 4-6 months. It’s been my primary search engine for several years now but I don’t know if my loyalty can withstand such a drastic decline. Bing results must have taken a nosedive as well, but I don’t use Bing so I can’t compare.
Good callout. We shouldn’t attribute intent, experience, or any other human characteristics, to software.
I have an older friend that has no idea that his laptop uses Windows. He just wants to be able to browse Craigslist for cars and junk. Seems like he has to get a new laptop every two years because his “old one got too slow”. I should do something like this for him. He’d never know the difference.
I hated it at first. Then I got pretty good at it and realized that I still hated it.
I may be stupid, but I want to learn.
Wanting to learn is the least stupid thing there is.

One of the best engineers I’ve worked with produced very little code at that point in his career. His primary responsibility was to do the research and planning that empowered the rest of the team to move quickly. Without a doubt, that team was far more productive due to his efforts. When needed, he could quickly whip out some top notch code, and he was heavy involved in the code review process. Writing code just wasn’t how he could deliver the most value.

For anyone that uses lemmy on mobile, the Voyager app for lemmy supports filters in the settings. I’m not sure how complex the filters can be. I’ve just been adding individual terms to my filter list, and it works great.
Before I left Reddit, for some time it had started to feel like every comment thread would quickly devolve into a chain of “um actually”. So much so that I stopped commenting. I didn’t need the hit to the ego and I have no interest in getting into internet arguments. I haven’t had that experience here, and ir’s encouraged me to participate far more than I did there.
And that right there is why I read this sub. TIL NixOS. I’ll be digging into this for sure. A quick glance looks promising. Thanks for the recommendation.
I think that’s something I’d like to avoid, at least for now. That may change once I’ve developed strong opinions about how things should work.
Not anymore.
Crap, i delete my first comment. Luckily i copied it right before, lol.
And once you control the bank account, just put a stop payment on all of the subscriptions. What are they gonna do, put a negative mark on your dead relative’s credit score?
Depends on the state and the type of debt. Have a mortgage? The bank will give the next of kin the opportunity to take over the payments. If they dont’t pay the mortgage, the bank will foreclose on the loan. But if Netflix comes after your kid for not paying your subscriotion fee after you die? They can fuck right off. At least, where I live.
There are some very cheap VPNs out there. Get a year long deal on Slickdeals, or a similar site. Come renewal time , switch providers and got another discounted subscription for the following year. VPN providers fall all over themselves trying to lure you away from your current provider.
Or, even better, get a seedbox. Many of those even offer VPNs at no additional cost. So you get the insulation of never torrenting on your home connection, and a “free” VPN, that isn’t shared with a million other people, for things like watching foreign streaming services or just plain increased privacy.
