Because if women can become people, then their whole thing starts to sound stupid.

They’re not sorting whites and blacks and men and women and poors and wealthy.

They are sorting people out of a pool of “not people.” If, all of a sudden, a woman could become a real person…

See it doesn’t work. It’s the part we keep forgetting.

Republicans must be scared of Talarico. His message seems to resonate with his base. He’s a white christian man, so in other words “Just a great guy!” in their view.

Also, he’s not afraid to call out the establishment. The republican base likes that kind of stuff, they’ve just been misled into believing that “the establishment” means jews and diversity hires instead of corporate-financial oligarchs and their political lackeys.

Talarico has been pretty effective at meeting these people where they’re at and redirecting their ire towards the oligarchy where it belongs.

    That must terrify republican politicians.

First we need to stop chasing cishetero white men out of progressive politics. There are some districts where they’re the only ones who stand a chance, unfortunately. We don’t have to like it for it to be true.

Full stop: no one is chasing out cishetero men. We need them to make more gaybies.

What’s happening is conservatives are convincing voters they are the only ones that accept them. That needs to stop. Fuck, let’s just add a grey strip to the pride flag.

Conservatives wouldn’t be able to convince them of that if there wasn’t a part of it that rings true with their personal experience.

And I can tell you that as a cishet white guy I’ve found it extremely difficult to participate in progressive spaces. It often feels like I’m not welcome at all, or that I’m only welcome as long as I keep my mouth shut. I’ve felt like I was being used as a punching bag by people who didn’t have anywhere else to direct their misplaced rage, and no one has ever cared that I experience problems too. If I even so much as mention a problem that I face or the fact that I face problems, I get absolutely trashed for it.

Pretending no one is chasing cishetero white men out of progressive spaces is not going to solve the issue. We’re not welcome on women’s spaces. We’re not welcome in BIPOC spaces. We’re not welcome in queer spaces. What’s left? Cause I guarantee you if someone tried starting a progressive space specifically for cishetero white men, then everyone would be furious.

And even if there were spaces that encompassed all identities under a common progressive umbrella, cishetero white men would still be the red-headed step child of those spaces.

Sure, just dismiss the personal experience that I’m relating to you just because you don’t believe it. I’m sure that’s just just prejudice talking. Oh wait.

Propaganda is a part of it, yes, but if it didn’t have a kernel of truth that people felt then it could never take root. It takes advantage of a critical exploit, which is the disillusionment and rejection that many of these people already face.

As a cishet white guy myself, I have to agree… to a point. Part of being an ally at this point in time really is a matter of just shutting the fuck up and listening. Allowing our presence alone to be our contribution and support. Allowing others to speak and lead. Not trying to correct people or broadcast our opinions. If folks want to hear us they’ll ask. If they seem upset at you as a proxy for our demographic, don’t get defensive. It’s reasonable for marginalized groups to hate and fear us. Take it on the chin. Change and healing takes time, you can’t expect to walk into these spaces and get VIP treatment. You’ll have to earn that.

Yeah okay I’ll shut up and listen, but I won’t stand there and be treated like a punching bag, and if they expect to be able to talk shit to me and I’m not even allowed to stand up for myself, then those people aren’t my friends, they’re bullies. And I don’t like bullies.

I have a history of trauma and abuse, I’ve been bullied and treated like shit. But nobody cares about my problems, in any context. I’m not gonna let people abuse me and treat me like shit out of some perceived sense of righteous indignation that they’re projecting onto me because I’m an easier target than the people who actually abused them and treated them like shit. Fuck that.

They are going to harp on Trans-everything this year, which affects almost nobody, because it’s all they’ve got. They’ve got nothing successful to point to, or even something that has the potential to be successful. They can’t criticize Dems, because they’re right about EVERYTHING, and they don’t want to point it out.

If you hear a MAGA going on about Trans stuff, ask them how many trans people they know,.or have ever known. When they tell you none, tell them to worry about stuff that’s real, like their empty fridge.

Last meeting, I stood up and asked him “Why do you spend so much time thinking about little kids’ dicks?” and that man didn’t say another fucking word the next 45 minutes. Really looking forward to the next school board meeting lmao. Gonna keep asking him why he’s so obsessed with children’s dicks until he stops talking about it or tries to fight me.

That’s what you have to do, keep shaming them, turning it on them, put them on the defense, chase them out. MAGAs and Anti-Vaxxers are the last two groups for which bullying is not only allowed, but strongly encouraged. Mock them, abuse them, shun them, fire them, call them names, laugh at them, cheat them, ignore them, discriminate against them, waste their time, etc.

Not just dicks, ask him why he is so fixated on all children’s genitals. Clearly you think about children’s genitals a lot, do you have an issue with that? Have you talked to a therapist about that? Have you ever had trouble with the police regarding children? Do you have children yourself? What would CPS say if we asked them about you?

He’s also specifically running as a Christian who opposes Christian Nationalism which is the most terrifying thing about him to the GOP. They know full well that being able to use the Christian label is the only thing they need for low information voters to vote for them, especially in the South. If they lose the stranglehold they have on that label they are well and truly fucked.

I never saw a right wing comedian or comic where i thought: i don’t disagree, but that shit is funny. I understand that that’s not only right wingers, there’s leftist stonetoss artists as well, and a lot of people here love them to death, but you’d think there is someone hateful that also has some talent. Bigotry is pretty much the only strategy the GOP has left. One state over, they are hammering the airwaves with ads claiming Hallie Shoffner, the Democrat running against Tom Cotton, is a major supporter of the “tRaNs AgEnDa”. It’s pathetic. It reeks of desparation. I think, for the first time in years, the Democrats might actually have a viable candidate. I think Tom Cotton thinks so too. I hope Hallie Shoffner stomps that little fucking weasel into the dirt.
