Google Maps agreed to rename the body of water to Lake America last week, but MapQuest has refused
Tim Cook gave drumpf millions in bribes to get around china tariffs. This behaviour is consistent with their support of drumpf fascism
One is sort-of understandable. This? No.
Not a good start, John.
I doing think the bribes are understandable.
They literally gave a rapist a gold brick.
Yeah. He’s the demented rapist president who was trying to put 25-100% tariffs on apple phones, which would either cost them many many millions in profits or market share, had it actually happened.
A 24k gold base (“from Utah” to emphasize the made-in-America theme), let’s say its two pounds, at $3,300 per ounce or $105k.
Business wise, it sort of makes sense for the time and place. I don’t agree with it, but it’s arguably an understandable political move.
Now, with no tariffs in sight, midterms approaching, and the utter ridiculousness of the gesture, “renaming” Lake Ontario is just flat out stupid.
And here’s the gift-giving “rules” if the demented rapist were somehow forced against his will to follow them.
I get that, I get that you can get your way by giving gold to the rapist.
I’m saying any company without the morals or soul required to question bribing the government directly is not a good company.
The US market economy is dead. There’s never going to be competition again.
Well, money is happening, whether we agree with it or not. I don’t know about a company’s ‘morals’ or ‘soul’, but the P&L is pretty objective fwiw.
I’ll criticize Apple too, but they’re not oil and gas or slaughter factories. There’s only so many hours in a day. And they make good stuff at least. Not counting this embarrassment.

If you use Apple Maps, report it.
You can’t report the wrong name but you can report a missing place in the middle of the lake call it “Lake Ontario” and give it category such as “Diaper Service and Supply”.
Name is wrong is the first option.
Ah, thanks, now I see it. You have to search for “Lake Ontario” or “Lake America”. I was just zooming to it and clicking inside.
“Cave” implies there was initially some resistance. I don’t think it’s the appropriate word here.
“Willingly bent over”
I cannot believe that I of all people am about to say this, but:
Have some fucking self-respect, Apple.
