Crew members were still wearing their Disney uniforms when they were escorted away from the boat with their hands zip-tied behind their backs, reports say
Some travelers on Disney’s Magic cruise ship were left disturbed earlier this month after ICE agents stormed onto the vessel and detained several crew members.
Immigrant rights groups said at least 10 crew members were detained at the Port of San Diego on April 23 after the Disney-run cruise ship returned following a five-day trip.
Dharmi Mehta and her family had enjoyed their trip, but were upset when they saw the head waiter, whom they had become close with, being led away from the docked boat with his hands zip-tied behind his back.

The Disney Magic is Bahama flagged. This is not US territory and ICE has no right to be on it what sort ever.
Hahaha, look at that guy thinking the law has any meaning in the US of A.
Sure it has meaning! All us peasents have to follow them.
It’s just not relevant to the king and his thugs.
Why the downvote this is obviously the truth? They get the maximum benefit of doubt while we get maximum suspicion.
You think the average middle school dropout ICE agent knows that?
Nazis do what Nazis do
When a ship docks in a foreign country, the vessel and everyone on it enter that nation’s “internal waters”. Because of this, the crew is physically located on that country’s soil (or, more accurately, its territorial jurisdiction), meaning local laws apply to them.
but presumably us companies can employ individuals who are not citizens at “sites” which are not based in the us?
They can just invade the Bahamas after Cuba.
you should go tell them that.
So your telling me I can wave a flag and laws don’t matter in port?
What law was being broken here? That employees from a foreign ship aren’t US citizens?
Possession of CSEM?
Yeah, I saw and that it sure feels like a total BS after-the-fact justification considering these were immigration agents who don’t investigate those kinds of crimes, these people aren’t in US jurisdiction so how did they even show up on their radar, and they apparently boarded a second ship from Holland and claimed those crewmembers were also part of this same alleged ring. What are the odds that all these people working on different ships from all over the world all happen to be part of a single CSAM ring and they all happened to be in a single port at the exact same time? Seems like you’d be more likely to win the Powerball two times in a row.
Whatever dumb shit they cooked up. You completely missed the point.
What was the point? You’re making a strawman claiming that “laws don’t matter in port” yet can’t even establish what immigration law was supposedly broken by foreign workers working on a foreign ship who hadn’t even stepped foot on US soil.
Be real fun if we start just arresting the crew of any ship we don’t like… Or like too much and want to steal. Lol who would come to a US port?
Not how it works. It was stopped in US waters and so was subject to local jurisdiction.
Not how it works. By your logic, ice can detain all personell on every vessel that docks in us? Bulk carriers, tankers, sea container? People who won’t set foot on us soil. send a boat, get your crew kidnapped. That’s going to go over well.
Well, yes. That is how international law stands.
So, what was the crime again?
eating a succulent Chinese meal!
Well, in this case it is how local law works.
Its the law of pirates and savages.
So, yeah, makes sense that its Americans employing it.
LMAO, I love it when conservatives pretend to care about “the law” when they support politicians who use it as toilet paper.
By “conservative” I assume you mean “someone who checked the laws” rather than referring to economic or social taste.
You haven’t even cited a law that’s been violated yet.
They have the ability to board US boats flying US flags in (and out) of US ports for the purpose of enforcing the law. Well, local law enforcement can, and specific government organizations. Not ICE, though. They arent a government organization that was created and fully defined by congress. Making a govt organization isnt snapping fingers and pouring money into a black hole.
Even if they were an organization with the required credentials to execute local, national, and maritime law, they didnt have a reason to attack anyone. Zilch.
Never said any were. I was correcting someone who thought ships weren’t under US jurisdiction.
No, they mean an idiot supporting this behavior because ICE did it. ICE did it so its legal!
I will say ships in US ports flying US flags are subject to our laws, but nothing justifies the psychotic brutality of the brownshirts. It may have been legal behavior, but the death penalty was also legal (nationally) at one point. Its about the weight of the response. We didnt use butterknives for executions, and people shouldnt be attacked, be forced to follow contradictory commands, strung in weird positions with zip ties, kidnapped and disappeared, etc. Being brown doesnt mean you should be slammed in a
concentration campICE holding facility.
