Hi Lemmies,
I have a rather substantial collection of music that I’ve ripped from CDs, bought from various online sites, etc. over countless years. Currently it’s all stored in iTunes on an old Mac. (It’s a couple versions of macOS out of date but I forget what it is, and it can’t be upgraded any further.) I just upgraded from an iPhone XS and luckily was able to resync all my playlists from the old Mac.
I’ve subsequently realized it would be a good idea to get all that music off the old Mac, preferably onto a NAS that I have. I’d also like to be able to manage/sync different albums, playlists, etc. to different devices (Macs, iPhone, iPad). I don’t want to use Apple Music for various reasons. Can folks recommend any software tools that can do all this?
Plex with Plexamp or the default Plex app.
I believe Plexamp requires a Plex pass but it’s a great app.

Another vote for PlexAmp. It’s a great piece of software to roll your own cloud streaming server. I use it all the time with hi res lossless files.
Thanks. I’ll definitely look into this.
Jellyfin and Finamp are decent alternatives to others mentioned
I don’t have the answer but I am curious why you’re avoiding Apple Music

My biggest issue with Apple Music (and its subscription) is how it will mangle my high quality collection and replace it with songs from different versions of the album or singles, and delete my version and replace it with a DRM version.
For managing music I’m fine with it. But iTunes Match was a mistake and you can’t turn it off.
