I want to agree with you, but Elon is not stupid and definitely had something to do with the success of Falcon 9.

What I think he is good at is having crazy innovative ideas and pushing his engineering team to make it some kind of reality. Being able to spend the time to listen to engineering, work through the issues, find ways to do things to make it work while still achieving the fundamental goals.

My guess is that he’s not had the time to do that process and instead became the “do it my way or you’re fired” guy. Less Elon could be bad because they have less chance to talk sense into him. He certainly didn’t give up any control when he gave up his focus.

Elon is not stupid and definitely had something to do with the success of Falcon 9.

Elon is amazing at lying to people to get them to hand him money. That’s his primary skill. He’s extremely good at it, absolutely and undeniably true. He can tell stories like a pro (he is, it’s his job).

Beyond that? No, not at all.

There are some videos of him talking tech, and it may sound impressive to laymen, but anyone with the experience of a three month internship can tell he doesn’t understand shit.

Look at what he can get some when he fucks off: Falcon 9, the first few Tesla cars. Look what he does when he gets involved: fraudulent solar roofs, car tunnels that don’t exist in any real way, cyber truck, Tesla semi, xAI, Twitter, starships to Mars, fake humanoid robots that can’t even perform on a fake stage.

The only great thing he’s actively involved in is Starlink, which is an amazing tool to funnel more venture capital into SpaceX, and a company that won’t see 2030.

Eh maybe “wasn’t stupid” is more accurate before the brain worms got him.

i don’t even think that’s the case at all. if you go back you can still find stupid shit coming out of his dumbfuck busted ass face all the time. the only difference is he didn’t make public statements much, so people just assumed he knew some things.

whenever he talked about anything though, he only ever impressed people who didn’t have much knowledge in the field he’s talking about. anyone with expertise would see through his bullshit. even back when he was generally liked and respected, astronauts weren’t buying what he was selling.

he’s the perfect case of “it’s better to be silent and be thought an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubt”. the reason you think he “wasn’t” stupid is because he didn’t open his mouth we much, so at least there was doubt, and people have him the benefit of it.

Ol’ captain soft hands can barely carry that thing. I fucking hate Zuckerberg but I wish that the battle royale had happened between these two just to watch him choke out elon.

One of the interesting characteristics of Musk is that he’s able to assess the check he wrote and knows that the check won’t clear. It happened with the twitter purchase, his days with the government, and with challenging Zuckerberg.

I just wish he could have that thought before he says something stupid.

He looks like his own younger brother in this pic and was only a couple years ago. Ketamine is one hell of a drug…

From what I’ve heard of leaks to the press from inside SpaceX, Musk’s presence there only complicates matters.

Musk’s policies endanger SpaceX employees, but his presence only makes shit worse.

Correlation is not causation. The meme implies causation, but all it’s facts just tell us that there is some correlation in the timeline.

More likely than a change of president being the cause of the failures, is the departure of Tom Mueller. Tom Mueller was the driving force behind the success of SpaceX and he left the company in 2020: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Mueller. The effects of his departure probably took longer to ripple out through the company: others no longer being protected from Elon’s hubris, more key people leaving, … In the mean time old projects were still being successfully completed, but sooner or later the rot would start to show on the outside.

    Tldr: Never trust memes.

The raptor engine was already done by then and the starship design was fairly mature. So Tom leaving shouldn’t be too bad. They’re in the troubleshooting phase so its not as critical.
