Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed’s former opponent in the U.S. Senate primary, Haley Stevens, stunned party officials Sunday by endorsing Republican Mike Rogers after Democratic tensions boiled over days before the election that could determine the balance of power on Capitol Hill.

Stevens endorsed Rogers after attending a Detroit church service with him. The remarkable show of support for Donald Trump’s backed candidate in the tightly contested race comes after she was uninvited to a joint event the same day with El-Sayed, who defeated the congresswoman by a slim margin in the August primary.

“Our Democratic nominee for Senate said I was no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away,” Stevens said video announcing the endorsement. “And he’s right. And that’s why I am endorsing Mike Rogers for the United States Senate today.”

This should be top. Already rightfully expelled.

All the people bellyaching at the top should take note- blue no matter who and proven.

I don’t know that I’ve personally been bellyaching about the top, but as someone who refuses to donate to the Dem party and only donates to candidates directly, this is really great to see. I’ve been disappointed in the past by the party’s behavior, and this is the kind of behavior I need to see in order to be brought back into the fold.

I’m sure you realize this, but when you directly donate to a Democrat or Republican candidate, they are required to turn around and donate portions of that to their party. The requirements are so great that politicians basically have to become 24x7 fundraisers or else they are punished by the party.

People focus on lobbyists and PACs as dumping money into politics, but a large part of the demand for that money is being generated by the idiot parties themselves.

I’m aware that leftover funds often (not always) get donated to the party, but do you have any source for the mandate for portions of donated funds?

I do in fact! Oh, and don’t think it is just Congress. I don’t have a source beyond “something I heard on NPR one time”, but pretty much every level has to raise money in order to get the full support of their party.

blue no matter who and proven.

This seems like a stark rebuke of the above. The national party has been absolutely toxic towards El-Sayud since he filled to run.

Vote Who Chuck Schumer Tells You Too, is more like it
