Believe it or not, that’s the ideal outcome short of impeachment.

The economy is fucked, and we have proof his government has been lying about the numbers. An obstructionist Trump lets Dems continue to rightly blame him for it, and Republicans with any luck take it on the chin again in 2028.

Of course, his voters will see it as dems being at fault for only passing bills that weren’t any good (Trump didn’t approve of them after all) and thus if dems get the majority in 2026, they’ll be at fault for everything that happened in 2025-2026 in addition to already being at fault for everything negative that happened from 2017-2025.

And they will reelect him in 2028.

It’d be pretty cool if the Democratic Party had fewer Republicans in it. I suspect this Haley Stevens revelation today is but a visible pimple with a several-pound, teeth-and hair-laden conjoined twin lurking underneath. If true, expect more of the same from the orange scrotum.

I think that governors and presidents alike shouldn’t have direct veto power. Their job is to enact the will of congress and the people.

If veto is retained in a future America, I suggest the following:

    • 1: The leader nominates an congressionally approved law for being vetoed.

    • 2: A 30 day window opens, where voters can send in a ballot to approve the veto. 51% of the ballots have to agree with the veto to cancel the incoming law.

    • 3: Voters can mark on their ballot whether to automatically prevent the leader from being able to nominate laws for veto. If 51% of the cast ballots agree to lame the leader, that leader loses veto power for the rest of their term.

    • 4: If a lamed leader is voted into office for another term, a ballot is sent out to voters. They will decide whether to restore veto powers to that leader. 51% of cast ballots have to agree to do the restoration.

A leader has to risk losing their veto privilege when exercising it, especially if it becomes a cudgel of choice for them.

He’s at the dementia stage where he signs anything when a pen is handed to him. He’s not making his own decisions any longer.

That’s one way to go. How about going the PresiDunce Assassinated route?

Or even better the PresiDunce Untreatable Cancer that’s amazingly PAINFUL but suffered over years route?

If I threatened to my boss that I would just not do my job if I didn’t get what I wanted, I’d probably be fired on the spot, but to each their own I guess.

      Exactly.

Shit will stay bad, undeniably bad.

And I’m 2 years Dems get to campaign on hypotheticals for how much progressive policy would have helped if we had a progressive president.

The were looking at 2/3s majoritie to get a lot done, and insulation from remaining neoliberals who won’t vote with the party

It’s honestly the best path to super majorities, because we don’t have to try and get some stuff accomplished the next two years, there’s zero expectation that trump will let anything pass. So even if nothing gets fixed, it will still just help Dems.
