British computer engineers created a world class operating system. Linux Ubuntu.
Instead, the UK spends huge amounts of money each year to purchase Microsoft Windows.
They don’t trust their own engineers. But they trust american engineers.
Why?
You are straining the credo of this community. Gauging general trust in engineers based on where the most popular PC operating system comes from is simply too simplistic.
Very few people use Microsoft products because they actually like them. They are just the market leader in desktop OSs and do their darnedest to keep people trapped in Office. Their market dominance is no reflection on trust.
There’s a mentality that free means not good. If we pay for something then it must be good. We as consumers have been brainwashed into this mentality since birth. I quit using Windows 20 years ago. Don’t miss it. I get nausea every tome i have to touch windows now. Especially newer versions with that horrible interface.
The whole Linux thing was started by a Finn anyway, what does it matter?
Because most office workers can’t be bothered to deal with Linux.
90% of brits probably don’t know about Ubuntu.
I don’t think it’s trust, it’s market dominance.
