I’m interested in gaining a familiarity with Beavis and Butthead so I can understand more of the cultural zeitgeist. However, I am not a teenage boy and will probably not like it all that much. The plan right now is to watch 6 episodes. Which 6 episodes should I watch?
Not sure I could pull exact episodes out of memory, but I always enjoyed the sections of the show where they were watching music videos (didn’t find the actual plot-focused stuff as fun). I feel like them sitting and talking trash about music videos gets their vibe best.
I would honestly just watch the movie. Beavis and Butthead Do America is pretty much a perfect encapsulation of the characters and all their bits
Ha! They got Butane Hank Hill!
Have you seen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beavis_and_Butt-Head_Do_America? It’s a good summary.
I gotta rewatch this again. I wonder if I’ll find it as hilarious as I did when I was 13. Hopefully.
Cool! Time to find out if I like it!
At the very least, I will have a well-educated position whence to call annoying people Butt-heads
I loved this one from the new seasons. Downward dumbass had me in tears.
Agreed! I was really surprised at the quality of some of the new episodes. The New Enemy is another one of my favorites.
Couch fishing
The woodshop episode, and “Work Sucks” where they just throw everything in the deep fryer.
None.
Honestly Mike Judge’s worst show. Watch Daria. Also Common Side Effects. King of the Hill isn’t bad either.
Judge wasn’t involved with ‘Daria’.
Oh wow, I didn’t realize MTV kept him out of it. That’s kind of brazen to make a spin-off with a character and not let the creator be involved. Good show, though.
Not how it works. Different people created the spinoff and thus ran the show. Judge had nothing to do in there because it wasn’t his show. Apparently he “allowed the character to star in the series”, although I’m not sure he had the rights anyway.
I’d guess they would let him come onto the show if he wanted. But even the characters that he voiced in ‘B&B’ aren’t in ‘Daria’, and
Other than a brief mention of Highland, ‘Daria’ did not contain any references to ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’.
He mentions in an interview that he was frustrated to not have been offered to take part in it.
